Please try and refrain from deleting a thread TLM, as it is against forum rules to do so - thanks

Are you meaning to imply that this website claims ownership of my own words here?

You a got point there. Besides if you are able to remove it why should it be against the rules. I don’t get it

I think they’re trying to imply that it’s a waste of time and space to post something and then delete it.

And whose time and space do I waste here, if not my own, in posting and then deleting? I certainly claim the right to use up my own time in this manner, particularly when it serves my interests to do so.

I suppose the real question would be: why, if I have changed my mind about what I posted and my desire to see it spread open and freely before the world, should I content myself with leaving my own words up when I could simply remove them? Why would I continue posting something of my own which I do not wish to be so posted?

Well, as far as being a waste of time, isn’t it OUR OWN TIME that we simply chose to waste, or not?

As far as wasting space, if someone writes 3 long paragraphs, say with approximately 80 lines, then the way I look at it, if it is deleted, and one simply gives an explanation with one line, that is not wasting space, that is saving space.

Magsj, Happy New Year and how are you?

Just to continue a bit with this, Magsjy, why is it against the rules for someone to delete a thread if they have changed their mind about it - IF they have decided to go a different way with it, as in the case of TLM…

… or if there has not been any response to it, and a person decides to delete. I have actually done that once or twice…no one wanted to be bothered with it  and so I suppose to save face, I deleted it. :unamused: I guess the thread was so inane, no one even noticed it.

I can actually understand if it has been an ongoing thread…let’s say… and the way in which the thread is going is just not accepted by the OP - this I don’t think we ought to delete and I can understand the rules against deleting someone else’s thoughts and responses (if we can even physically do that). That I have never done nor would I!

I suppose that IF it emphatically says in the rules that under NO circumstances or for whatsoever reason is a thread, once began by an OP, no matter WHAT the result of it, to be deleted by the OP, or is any part whatsoever of that thread to be deleted, by anyone other than the one who responded to it.

Hi guys! it’s just so that a precedent is not set where deleting OPs/posts becomes the norm, that’s all…
