Does he have an answer for this?
“PARIS — Clergy members in the Roman Catholic Church in France sexually abused more than 200,000 minors over the past seven decades, according to an estimate published on Tuesday by an independent commission that concluded the problem was far more pervasive than previously known.” [NYT]
It seems like a systemic problem in the Roman Catholic patriarchy.
Yep. Those are almost entirely cases from before the Church reformed in 2002.
It’s also less than 5% of clergy.
Your replies sound callous.
I don’t mean to be.
Here’s an excellent response from a priest:
How much have the incidents of Catholic clergy related sexual abuse decreased since 2002?

Dramatically. At its worst, 4% of priests were accused of abuse. The reason most people think it’s so much higher is because of the constant media coverage:
"The Dallas Charter and subsequent Church reforms have resulted in a number of industry-standard and even groundbreaking policies and procedures to keep children safe in Church-related activities and keep abusing priests out of ministry.
The incidents of clerical abuse in recent years (i.e., since 2002) are down to a trickle."

One problem is that the 4% were allowed to abuse many victims over many years.
And those who stood by and let it happen are still running the church.

Most of them are dead.
The problem is that decades ago, sexual abuse wasn’t as understood as it is now. It wasn’t taken as seriously and the idea was that abusers could receive some counseling and be cured. That’s why so many were moved to other parishes, too.
Now we know that isn’t true.
If they were in their 20s or 30s in in the 1980 and 1990 decades then they are probably still alive.

Most are either dead or the statute of limitations ran out.
I guess that this is some sort of Christianity. :-&

Not really. Christ taught to love our neighbor as ourselves.
The culture only judges Christianity by the worst elements because the culture hates Christianity. It seems like an unfair bias, IMO.
You’re representing Catholics in these threads.
And the stuff that you are posting is awful.
Let’s hope that it is not representative of Catholics in general.

I’ve addressed his points one by one and he hasn’t responded to them because I have the facts
You have excuses and rationalizations.
The statute of limitations?
Where does Jesus or scripture say that your sins get erased after a few years?
What Christian says things like this?

Does that mean you agree with FS1983’s take on the abuse and the handling of the abuse?
