The evolutionary purpose assigned to the act of sex is obviously reproduction, so sex used to be an intimate and spiritual thing between a man and a woman. If that man/woman fucked around, it would negate the entire concept of intimacy and thus sex would lose all spiritual value associated with 2 organisms becoming one (creating new life) and be reduced to nothing more than an act of base animality. So maybe censoring sex is to preserve its value.
