I’m not of the illusion that I’m free. I just have a crazy definition of freedom that doesn’t make any sense when I try to explain it, but I totally believe it to be true.
I figure with him being the Dali Lama, you could just tell him that, and within a short period of time, he’d some to my conclusion, and then in his mind he’d have less angst about the world.
You know, I think Buddhism says something about stripping away illusions and desires and all that. I mean, that’s sort of the way to freedom. When you have these illusions and the accompanying desires, you want things to be some way, and when they’re not, you feel stress and suffering. I mean you could get into how feeling that stuff might be an illusion, but I’d say it’s the kind you want to work on getting rid of first.
I think the Dali Lama would be happier with a beer.
