Ok Gecota Hear in a nutshell is what dislike about Batman. Batman is old enough to seek help for is parent issue and yet never has. The dude is 50 years old or thirty something if go by comic and he never got over his parent death their comes a time to let things go. All that trauma should have been deal with by now. Vengeance lead to More Vengeance, all his paranoid issue about trust have put others in to harm way. Furthermore you ask any non-comic who the favorite superhero and will say Batman or Spiderman and they no nothing about them at all. This as comic reader for most my years on this earth drives me nuts how say some is lame without know anything about them. Certain people have never given Superman a chance because they think he is lame so he call him lame than without ever reading a issue. They never gave him a chance to prove why he is the bar for all superheros to be measured. Superman is a good hero and moral idealist this cause many to dislike him without thought of how hard it to that type person in the modern world. I feel far to many people dimisss him because they see fight only superpower people and not all thinking villains like Lex Luthor, Mongal or the Toyman and see match wits with. I think people should learn more before saying lame anyone can be lame given bad writing or bad art or images taken out context. That is what I was using the images for example of how lame people can make Batman.

Than I spoke up to try give Superman A fair shot and attacked Batman out of My deep hate of all his bad toys over the years. Had far to many crap toys and they play a part in the down fall of favorite toylines. Thus I feel the need to state that Batman About 90 Villains and maybe 20 of them are good. Then Glider felt the need bring some form outside in to and had to fire back at him. Batman Needs to have some human connection other he will die alone bitter old man at the hands of his Villains. Superman will always be what a Hero is that some put the man first and Not a personal issue. Superman does not need tragedy to do right and Batman does otherwise he would be Jackass Playboy. Superman has always been deep character Batman need something bad to in order to make him deep and worth wild as person. He is not a hero and I feel that people need Heroes. Not crybaby Playboy with crazy ideas about how the law should work. Antihero are not good role models for people that is why they are Antiheroes. NO should want to be Batman and everyone should want to be Superman.

I don’t find that the quality of an archetype like Batman or Superman can be easily measured by what comic book writers and artists have done with them in the past. For every quality story arc in Batman or Superman there are other less than stellar concepts for these two characters.

While I prefer Batman to Superman the power of Superman as a cultural archetype is actually further reaching than the Dark Knight’s in my opinion. Superman has been in our conscious media for nearly as long as there has been media. From the Superman radio drama to the 40’s animated serials to the more modern incarnation on Smallville. Superman is a staple symbol of American culture and with Brian Singer’s film coming out this summer and Smallville being renewed for a sixth season it doesn’t look like Big Blue will be dying out any time soon.

If comic book superheroes are American mythology then Superman is like Zeus, the father of all cape-clad-crusaders. Superman is a character that people can aspire to be. And I think that’s what Superman has over Batman. Batman, while being a sophisitcated, and enduring archetype, he is not somone that most people aspire to. Where Superman is dedicated Batman is obsessed, where Superman has a code of honor Batman has high moral standards that he imposses on himself and those around him. Batman is a loner in the shadows and while we enjoy looking on he doesn’t seem like the kind of person that I’d want to be. Superman, however, is different. He is open, not closed off, and he lives a normal life. He even gets married (at least most conitnuities have him married to Lois Lane eventually.)
