Christmas List

ILP Christmas Gift:

Hello F(r)iends,

’Tis the season to be jolly and Christmas is an excuse to unabashedly give gifts to friends, family, employees, et al. It’s my opinion that it is best to provide gifts that come from the heart, that demonstrate one’s feelings. I can think of no better way to express such sentiments to various ILP members than to personally dedicate a song that reminds me of each of you ILP-sters. Subsequent posts, if any, may expand on why I chose that song a particular member… The last song I will dedicate to everyone at ILP. Thanks to many of you I have changed.

I’ve found a reason for me, to change who I used to be
A reason to start over new and the reason is you

I’m sorry that I hurt you {some of you anyways} It’s something I must live with everyday
And all the pain I put you through I wish that I could take it all away
And be the one who catches all your tears thats why i need you to hear
I’ve found a reason for me to change who I used to be
A reason to start over new and the reason is you

I’m not a perfect person I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go that I just want you to know
I’ve found a reason for me to change who I used to be
A reason to start over new and the reason is you
I’ve found a reason to show a side of me you didn’t know
A reason for all that I do and the reason is you

Thirst you’re awesome.

 Very cool. Flattered to be mentioned.

Great Thirst – you’ve got me pinned.

Our band played that on the last day of school – to wild applause, I might add. I can feel the adrenalin pumping now… “Teachers, LEAVE THOSE KIDS ALONE!”

Thirst, we’ve waited a long time for this list, I was beginning to get a touch of the ‘promises, promises…’ but you’ve outdone yourself once again. What a wonderful Christmas present, thank you and well done!

Thirst - You are the MAN.

Merry Christmas, doll.

Far too uncool to have heard of that one… Can I have “Hip to be square” by Heuy Lewis and the News please…?

Thanks Thirst, and everyone else at ILP, for making 2005 a strange and tortuous process of self-development. To (mis)quote a Hobbit:

“I don’t know half of you as well as you deserve, and don’t like half of you as much as I should.”

Now, switch off your computer and go out and get drunk, I don’t care if you’re a quadraplegic with an iron-lung, drag your sorry ass outta that bed with your tongue, and break into the Sherry, even if you have to head-butt the bottle…

Tab.

Tabula Rasa

Get back here, you bugger.

 wow, thats probably the best gift yet- thanks thirsty! muah

That was amazing! Did you start that post last year?

Some of my favourites.

Jerry – Coming to America, Neil Diamond
“On the boats and on the planes they’re coming to America. Never looking back again they’re coming to America!”
What else do you get an aging Captain America?

liquidangel – Trouble, Coldplay.
“And I lost my head, the thought of all the stupid things I said.”
Well LA, the vege’s still love you.

Gamer – I Want To Break Free, Queen
“I want to break free, I want to break freeeee. I want to break free from your lies you’re so self satisfied I don’t need you! I’ve got to break free. God knows, God knows I want to break free.”
The words to the song are meaningful of course, but the overly camp style and strutting stage presence scored even higher.

Satyr - One, Metallica
“Darkness! Imprisoning me, all that I see. Absolute Horror! I cannot live…”
Whatever makes him happy, I guess.

Colinsign – Dude, Aerosmith
“Dude looks like a lady! Dude looks like a lady!”
Yes, this is one of hundreds I would have chosen for our very own Dizzy Miss Lizzy.

Pinnacle of Reason – Loser, Beck
“Soy un perdedor… I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?”
Good question, why don’t we?

I love my present  Thanks Thirst and Happy Christmas to you and your family.

It’s nice to be noticed. I have Rhapsody, so I’m going to see if I can make a playlist of all this and actually play it.

EDIT:

Done! I like it. I had to get different versions for some of them, especially the Metallica songs… like a rehearsal version or a live version. Sometimes a version by a tribute band, but hey, I got the list together, and it sounds great.

Awwww…Great message!! Such dedication.

Cheers thirst4me!!!

Everyone have a great Christmas, robust dinner, banter laughter and as much possible joymongering and love!!

Hello F(r)iends,

You are all welcome guys and gals! How was your Christmas?

My Christmas was awesome. We stayed up drinking with family until 3:30 AM. Nothing like a drunk grandfather telling you how you are his favorite son! Even though you are his in-law.

I received many kind gifts, but the best one was a Homer Simpson/Santa Claus singing doll. It sings Christmas songs! Hooray for me… The other one was from a Muslim friend that called to wish me a Merry Christmas–that was awesome considering his religious beliefs. I love that guy like a brother. So…

What great gifts did you receive?

I got the box set of the first season of Quantum Leap, which is one of my all time favourite TV series. And I argued with my 82 year old grandmother over the Christmas dinner table about political correctness during the season of goodwill…

Thank you much Thirst!!

My Xmas was very nice. Spent it with both friends and family. Got lots of great gifts.

Slipknot huh? Very interesting, but also very cool. You never cease to amaze.

Wish I got Slipknot or somebody cool. Thinking back, I was so jazzed about being mentioned at all I overlooked that my song is all slow and wimpy and cliched and by a band I don’t even like …

… not sure what to make of that.

Thanks Thirst! Happy holidays. A generous f(r)iend to the community. It’s appreciated.

Hello F(r)iends,

Because one of my New Yeards resolutions is to finish what I started…

Dunamis - Seven Nation Army, The White Stripes
“I’m gonna fight ’em off. A seven nation army couldn’t hold me back.”

I chose this song for Dunamis because I think he has the ability to do anything he wills. I am continuously impressed by the path he has chosen and what’s more: his struggle to make things better at ILP while choosing a controversial method.

Tabula Rasa – A Long December, Counting Crows
“A long December and there’s reason to believe, maybe this year will be better than the last.”

I think Tab was cheated due to a simple misunderstanding. However, the song is about making up, admitting fault, receiving forgiveness, traveling, and generally about life. Having learned a tad about Tab, I recognize he is a man struggling in the position he is trying to connect and to live! I hope he comes back to ILP… you are definitely wanted!

Uccisore – Like A Stone, Audioslave
“By a freeway, I confess I was lost in the pages of a book full of death”

The song is about life, death, god, angels, a book {bible} redemption, paganism… It reminds me of the struggle that I can imagine Uccisore faces in a world where young men choose Atheism more because their friends are doing it than because they really examine their lives. I think the religious/spiritual take of the song applies to Ucci…

détrop – Semi Charmed Life, Third Eye Blind.
“I believe in the sand beneath my toes, the beach gives a feeling, an earthy feeling, I believe in the faith that grows, and the four right chords can make me cry.”

Detrop is all about the moment, the experience, camaraderie, and I think in many ways he is a sensitive soul. He is fascinating to watch: He jingle-jangles through life and is my “evil twin” in many ways…

Impenitent – More Human Than Human, White Zombie
“Yeah, I am the ripper man, A locomotion mind, Love American style –yeah. I am the nexus one, I want more life, Fucker I ain’t done – yeah. More human than human…”

His knowledge impressive, his technique interesting, his politics superb! He has an ability to reduce any argument to its simplest points and a mortal like me appreciates that… Imp is more human than human.

I’ll do a few at time… but I will complete and try to explain the list. If not for you guys, but for myself.

-Thirst

2 adorable puppies, a round-trip ticket to Iceland, a blue bikini…and, I was included on your X-mas list. Luv these new smilies! :D/
