Computer & Video Games

Most people in this thread are talking about old games, glorifying old games…

because modern gaming is dead, trash, garbage…

Modern society, clueless moderns that have only slop for games…

Microcosm of the macrocosm.

First this:

It was absolutely dreadful (4K), but my first computer, so I loved it. Played this most of the time:

It was really hard, but I got good..

Then onto this:

Which was basically also dreadful, but most of my friends also had one, and it had a certain charm, mostly played this:

Then I went and played outside for several years :joy: But eventually I got this:

That truly was a groundbreaking machine, but it was sometimes a bit unstable..

Played stuff like this most of the time:

By the time I got a PC, it was the 90’s, 94 I think. Played pretty much everything I could get my hands on, knew a guy that sold pirated CD’s with lots of games on them.. was into Doom, Quake, and other FPS’s at that point, but not so much anymore, it gets tedious..

But one of my favourite games of all time was always:

The atmosphere was just amazing, a very surreal, and often scary experience, even if a bit rough round the edges.

Oh and almost forgot this:

Planescape Torment, easily the best story in a video-game ever..

Now I do the same as you Jakob, I just fire up a SNES emulator, those are the games that are most fun to play for me now, and I don’t need a £500 GPU to run them.

I’m 18 but stalker, for an early 2000 game, was really good. Not that I ever finished it. It was also really hard.

I wish there were more modern games that didn’t need a 1500$+ computer to run.

I’ve heard dwarf fortress is pretty good.

Yeah me too, that looks like a lot of fun, I was meaning to try it, maybe now’s the time. Apparently it’s very involved and random. Good idea :+1:

It makes me wonder if I should get my autism evaluation done

It is fun but it’s also pretty technical.

Nah don’t. Just treat it as a superpower :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m going for DF, I need to see what it’s like..

One word, Steam. One stop shop for all of your video game needs. Anywhere from old classic video games to the new ones.

Been playing video games most of the day over here. When I am not on ILP I go straight to gaming or reading.

I think my Steam account is worth over £1000 now :joy:

In fact it is worth well over that, I just did the calculation in my head.. :grimacing:

That’s one of the best games …of all time, truly genius made game.

Here’s another of my top picks:

Civ 6 was decent, but not nearly as good as 5. Civ 7 is complete Marxist-Leftist trash garbage can. And I prefer Civ 5 without expacs or mods. It’s great in its vanilla state. It reminds me of 1990s level and era of gaming.

I love Steam, that’s my favorite escape from reality hotspot. I have an entire game library stacked full of games.

Ach me too, but if I’m gaming I can’t work at the same time

At least I can talk crap on here and multitask..

Civ 7 is definitely trash, I have debated buying it to see just how bad it is but I refuse to spend money on it.

I spend most of my gaming time escaping in the most nerdiest corner portion of the internet.

I used to play that with a fellow nerd, but there’s a lot going on and I kept getting my arse kicked in the battles.

Might try it again..

In the Star Trek universe I am literally a God-Tier online player that even the Q-Continuum could respect.

I loved the campy TOS intro section, I remember that, kind of wish the whole game had been like that TBH, so dozy buggers like me would stand a chance :joy:

They’ve updated the game quite a bit.

You can now play as Romulans, Klingons, Gorn, Orions, Ferengi, Borg, Cardassian, or as the Jem’Hedar.

There is also multiple timelines as a Federation player.

 :+1:

I’ll set phasers to download and check it out..
