Here is my paper. I would like to hear people’s complaints and critique of it so I can tighten it up for next month (April 20th). My lecturer has given me some pointers as to what I need to do. He said especially that the chapter on the Lion and the Fox needs more philosophical argumentation as as it stands its more of an ‘ontic’ description which Im not sure what that means.
Id like to hear other’s thoughts; dont pull any punches and please be as specific as poss, so I know where Im going wrong so I can fix it.
Another idiot professor. I haven’t even read the paper yet. Nietzsche uses ontic arguments. There is nothing inappropriate in using such an argument to describe Nietzsche. Ontic arguments describe all characteristics of their subject, without reference to any notion of essentialism, epistemic understanding, or perhaps causes and effects. Seems to me an ontic argument is the most appropriate form for Nietzsche.
On the other hand, he may be using “ontic” as a euphemism for “saying nothing”. Maybe he’s not an idiot at all.
Nietzsche doesn’t often argue towards a conclusion, however, but starts with his conclusions and then describes the conditions that lead to them. One reason he is often misunderstood, and why he is often considerd a bonehead.
I think there is more to the universe than that which is living, and so I disgree that the WTP is a governing force in the universe in toto. But you seem to hedge enough to make that a plausible interpretation of what you are saying. I consider it hyperbole, however. And that you take N literally in his own hyperbole. He overstates for dramatic effect.
Question - You seem to say that it’s “unfeasible” to live as a master, even as you outline how to live as a master. Which is really your conclusion? That it’s possible to flourish as a master in a slave society or that it’s not?
Had you finished reading it before you posted that because I clearly mark that out later on. The whole point of the Lion and the Fox chapter is to prove the faesibility of the master living in a slave morality society, after having shown earlier that its better to live as a master cos its a true expression of WTP.
My point is meant to be that masters cant live in a slave morality society and exert their WTP without getting vilified by the peons and hence the call for the wolf in sheep’s clothing/Lion and the Fox hybrid.
