I’ve reverted back to atheism apart from my expirimentation at being a agnostic.
There is just somthing about a uncertain stance on a subject or issue to me that seems completely alien and foreign.
I feel compelled to take a certain stance on this issue despite not knowing with a hundred percent certainty.
Human beings like to feel and think certain on a multitude of issues even if hundred percent certainty is not afforded to them.
While I agree that “God” is beyond all comprehension to postulate anything in knowing about with the agnostic instinctually and intuitively as a atheist I take the next step in saying, how can somthing possibly exist if it can’t be comprehended? Thus the full circle is complete with atheism at the end.
Wouldn’t somthing that couldn’t be comprehended not exist at all?
How can somthing exist yet not be mentally comprehended?
Agnosticism is not an uncertain stance, at least not the way it was intended by the man who coined the word. He was certain we could not know. It is an epistemological stance which says that we cannot determine whether God exists or not. Hence one can be both an agnostic AND an atheist - which from this post it sound like you are.
I don’t think something’s existence it tied to someone comprehending it. Then there is the issue of full comprehension. No one fully comprehends me (or you) but that does not mean those uncomprehended portions do not exist.
Don’t take this the wrong way, but these life updates don’t really justify their own topics. Imagine if everyone posted like that? This place would be totally crazy. As far as I can tell here, you simply changed your mind about something.
I can perceive your presence and prove that you exist as a human being.
I can’t do either with “God”.
Fair enough, however I’m also explaining my conclusions in the changed stance too.
The reasoning behind making such updates is that if I find myself in a debate later on I don’t want somebody coming around saying, didn’t you used to be a agnostic? Now unofficially people know my stance has changed back towards atheism.
