Decadence

ROtflmao, a presumption based upon not gleaning real information from what is said. Try again this time read and think about my posts. Try an objective view not reactive view. Love is a nurtured emotion , addictive and decadent. Not once have I said it was a bad thing. It is your perspective on words that stops you from comprension.

All emotions are nurtured, so what? So are more than others.
I think I have hit the nail on the head.
I feel sorry for you. But you’ll get over it.

Actually no and yes. There are basic survial emotions that are innate. They can be nurtured to excess or nurtured out. Others are nurtured without nature. Love being the one in question. There is also hate, repugnance, and preference and others which evade my tired brain right now.

Love is utterly innate.
Have you never seen a bitch and her puppies?
What would you call that?

Modern art is the manic, hedonistic art for enjoyment. Moral arts control passions. So was it at the time of Plato where he is discussing different styles of music, because the styles have mixed up and made a chaos equal to our modern disco music where words have almost disappeared. So was it in the 4th century BCE in Greece.

At the end of the century one Greek said “there are just few of us left who know what the old music was”. I suppose it has become very rare. like the classical music today, just rarer.

If music is empty of words(and morals), then your mind is idle then “passions are running in the veins tearing and destroying everything”.

It would be interesting to see what kind of morals in music, or music with morals could we chose but without Christianity. I think some composers have made music with ancient Greeks motives… “Themistocles”, “Caesar” … for example. But I couldn’t find them to hear it.

Is there anything for the ancient Greek tragedies?

If you are using the term technically, modern art vs. say post-modern or renaissance, I really don’t think this is the case. Much modern art is rather cold and mental. Lines, circles on canvas. Often they are more ideas than something for the senses. If you mean by modern, art that is happening now, I don’t think this is case either. Certainly some of it is, but you have pretty much every possible style these days, and including a great deal of neo-classical art which should fit what you think art should be.

Depending on how you define ‘moral’ this may be the case, but if they do not also incite the passions, I would consider them pointless. Aesthetics include pleasure and emotions as reactions. And also as inspiration and guide.

NOt having words is bad? Does this mean that the bulk of classical music is bad?

I don’t experience music without words, even music that incites strong emotions and passions as tearing and destroying anything. That said, music with words has even more opportunity to stimulate emotions. This can be anything from kitchy words - like those in national anthems, etc. - to political music, to rock or hip hop or whatever. There is huge power in word to stimulate emotions. And I really can’t imagine anything more boring than music that is trying to control passions via words.

I mean, each to his own, but I have never met anyone before who felt torn apart by music without words. I mean, unless it was some thrash metal, but I don’t think thrash metal with words is more gentle on the body.

ownership, possession. Mammal babies have a hormone that attracts the parent/s to it. After a certain age the bitch has little concern unless they stay socially connected. Its not love it is instinct to nurture her babies that belong to her. There are variables too strong to none.

Animals don’t have ownership.
Love is part hormone part intellect.
Hormones are innate.
Love is instinctual.
When a mother has a baby they bond. There is no greater love. It does not always happn…

Fuck it.
You are a waste of time.
One day you will grow up.
I think we are done here.

OkeyDokey.

Anybody who doesn’t think that hobbes choice and kriswest are spamers?

Anybody here who doesn’t think that “history boy” does not know what the word “spamers”, means?

No problem, I hope you find love one day as I have.

Oh I have. This January it will be 30 yrs strong and full of love and laughter as well as pain and heartache. I could never ask for a more warm loving life with mate, family and friends. I just understand the mechanics better than you my friend

I have requested all posts by hobbe and kris to be removed.

You could have fooled me.

I’m glad I’m not your husband.
Enjoy your emotional “mechanics”!

Good luck with that

I will continue to do so and other mechanics of marriage  .
Its a thread about decadence, what did you expect Historyboy? All we have been doing is discussing perceptions of decadence and disagreeing about it. Are we supposed to agree with each other? That would be bland and without purpose. Oh yea and what Hobbes said… Goodluck with that.

Isn’t is wonderful how having a common enemy can bring people together?
Maybe that’s love?

And its positively decadent.

Anyone actually wanting to discuss the OP, civilly?
