Deciphering the Indus language

Recently I came across an article that expained that a few years ago the mysterious language of the Indus River Valley had been deciphered!
The way that it was deciphered was quite different. A tribe living somewhere in Northwest India/Pakistan was the key. This tribe actually spoke a strain of the ancient language!
I found it extreemly astonishing that the language endured over such time!
Has something like this ever happened before?

Nothing astonishing about that at all. Somewhere in the mountains between India and Nepal, there lives a group, many among which have got green eyes. That’s not astonishing either - they are the decendents of the Alexandrian Macedonian. Somewhere in a city of central China, there lives a group, many among which speak Hebrew. That’s not astonishing either - they are the decendents of the fourteen century Jews. So what’s so special about the thing with the language?

I actually think its more astonishing that the actual language survived as opposed to physical characteristics of the race

I know, I mean I knew.
