Just curious what you guy’s opinions are on the connection between diet and health.Do you eat a specific diet?I recently stumbled upon a extremely interesting book on the matter. It was written in 1939 and is available free on the internet as it’s copyright has expired. It doesn’t require a download, you can read it from your browser.Check it out and tell me what you think.journeytoforever.org/farm_librar … cetoc.html.
Since I have begun living completely alone and isolated, I am eating “well”. Health is essential to a “healthy life”.
I think that diet is the primary means of establishing and maintaining good health.
There is a historical schism in medicine between those who believe in stimulating the body’s natural defences and those who believe in surgery/drugs as the only solution to ailments. I fall into the first camp. My girlfriend, who is studying to become a doctor, is being taught only the second camp, though she too tends towards the first.
Just curious, realunoriginal. What exactly do you eat?
How very true that is.I think that there is alot of misinformation among doctors in genereal about diet and health. This misinformation is driven by greed and profit mostly. What kind of diet do you eat?
Pasta, breads, tomato sauces, hamburger, pork, yogurt, milk, cheddar cheese, carrots, bananas, and whatever fruit is in season and the cheapest.
The most unhealthy I do would probably be to drink a soda/beer at least once every other day.
My diet consists of eating whatever I want when ever I want, I have a very fast metabolism and am hyperglycemic. I am considered way too skinny at 5’5" and I average 105 to 110lbs as my norm.
Generally its lite on sugars , heavy on bad starches and good to bad protein, medium on grains, heavy on green vegies and and berry fruits, heavy on dairy and medium to lite on the beer food group.
I just eat raw milk and meat, thats it.After doing this i’ve had alot of improvements in my health, especially my dental health.I was having alot of problems previously and after adopting this regime I don’t even brush or floss anymore, but my dentist is always raving about my teeth and how I am doing a great job of “brushing and flossing”.I also have had massive increases in energy (sleep maybe 6 hours everyday and feel completely rested, used to need around 10-12),my mood (I used to be extremely irritable),and complete disapperance of my acne.
Too much wheat, but I’m making efforts to eat other grains more regularly.
Lots of water/juice (fresh where possible). No processed fruit or vegetables.
vegan
You probably eat organic baby vegies don’t you? Cruel cruel cruel, although quite the tasty diet ![]()
i’m pretty healthy.
My diet consists of mostly tons of water, milk, yogurt, fruits and vegetables, peanuts, some almonds, fish (mostly tuna) and the occasional dose of unhealthy junk food.
As for exercise, all I really do is run every other night…
Meat, fish, brown rice, potatoes, fruit, vegetables, various nuts, and egg whites - chocolate and low fat crisps as a treat!
I train my abs obliques and lower back every other day, and do weights when needed - I don’t do cardio, as I don’t over-eat/don’t need to burn excess calories: as I prefer to lounge around than have to do cardio! ![]()
My exercises include a all manner of housework, yardwork, cleaning up animal messes and men messes. Chasing four legged kids down for medicinal purposes, searching for lost items. All done daily in a 16 hr day, well except for the past couple of days, no men messes or lost items, they are out of town
A sort of weekend off. Yea!!! Oh Darn, they should be back tonight, Oh well gear up my body, here we go again

this food concern comes and goes with me, i tend to easily slip into junk food habits but i’m trying to eat properly, i’ve got a bag of dried fruit and nuts here, not as tasty as a snickers but i’m resisting the junk temptations ![]()
in theory i should be able to construct a (minimal) diet that will keep both my body and my mind healthy.
I think that diet is the primary means of establishing and maintaining good health.

No sane doctor believes in only surgery/drugs as a way of boosting the immune system. Every doctor i’ve ever met said that eating well and exercising is the first step to maintaining health.
Besides that if you have X problem, then the only treatments people, doctors, anyone offering you should be shown to work effectively, under statistical trials against placebo, in double-blind settings.
Look at history before modern medicine, death was rampant, disease was rampant. A lot of that stuff is not with us due to modern medicine not because of herbal cures.
Though granted if a herbal cure passes those trials, its hardly worth mocking then, it’d be real medicine then.
there are plenty of bad doctors which overperscribe dangerous and unhealthy pills. Theres plenty of doctors who give out medicine in a balanced way, not overperscribing and using medicine when its needed.
I haven’t gotten sick as in a bacterial, viral or other infection that i’ve noticed in well over 13 years, for most of my life i’ve never been sick. I’ve shared drinks with people with strep-throat and numerous other infections and I never felt sick and still haven’t for years and years. I know exactly what the power of having an amazing immune system is like.
If I fell and shattered my leg and gored it on somthing the best immune system in the world wouldn’t prevent infection from setting in. (well it might) the fact is no matter how healthy you are, theres easily attainable infections which are dangerous to people in the best of health.
And what about diseases which turn the immune system against the body of the individual? Yeah i’m healthy right now, but theres numerous conditions in which my strong immune system would be the absolutely worst thing to have. the 1918 spanish flu killed people with the best immune systems, it was a holocaust of the young and strong.
So yeah, your immune system can backfire and attempt to kill you, if that happens, you better hope theres available medicine to control it. Arthritis is also thought to be caused from the immune system inflamming itself, allergies is immuno reactions to nonharmful substances, asthma is largely set off and co-existing with allergies, painful inflammitory diseases.
Yeah exercise and eating right *can do a lot. Somtimes medicine is needed and ranting about ‘health’ is just meaningless. If it came down to eating right/exercise, a lot of people would die off from disease, even really fit/people with a good diet.
There is a historical schism in medicine between those who believe in stimulating the body’s natural defences and those who believe in surgery/drugs as the only solution to ailments.
This ‘schism’ exists between dumb extremists on both sides then. No one trained in human biology/medicine thinks that ‘only drugs/surgery’ can improve immuno-function, infact its general considered that immuno-function can be largely compromised by surgery.
Doctors continously going on about avoiding heart-disease by exercising and eating right, keeping high immune function, bone density, the say that 50% of cancer is avoidable by lifestyle choices (statistical amounts in the population not for individuals)
Its not an exaggeration to say, that almost every doctor around here, tells almost every normal healthy person up to like 60, (if they’re not in INCREDIBLE shape) that exercise and improved diet is the best idea. Theres people around here who are athletic and the doctor still tells them to improve their diets/lifestyle.
It seems like the things doctors tend to push on most people, most of the time, right?
Seriously medical associations, research groups, clinics and so forth continously release information to the public about health related shit. Its fucking bombarded to us on TV, when I go to the doctor’s office anywhere in this province theres posters about health/diet/exercise.
its a fucking constant bombardment.
What I think you mean is that you have some laughable idea that you’ve yet to fully explain to us.
Good to see you’ve added ‘laughable’ to your vocabulary of pejorative adjectives.
I bet you still haven’t looked up the etymology of your other favourites words though.

I still haven’t gotten an explanation about why I should care about the etymology of words besides as an interesting historical note. Why I should care about how I apply the various definitions of words today that have nothing to do with their origins, but that everyone uses in acceptable english writing/speech.
I am interested in the etymology of words, but why does it matter?
No sane doctor believes in only surgery/drugs as a way of boosting the immune system. Every doctor i’ve ever met said that eating well and exercising is the first step to maintaining health.
Most doctors believe that diet is one of many factors of disease, when in fact it is the only factor.
Look at history before modern medicine, death was rampant, disease was rampant. A lot of that stuff is not with us due to modern medicine not because of herbal cures.
Not at all.Although it is true that death was rampant,it was not due to disease. It was due to the inherent dangers and vigourisness of a primitive lifestyle. The simple fact is,primitives don’t get degenerative disease.Disease is a symptom of modern civilization. The solution isn’t “herbal cures” by the way.
Though granted if a herbal cure passes those trials, its hardly worth mocking then, it’d be real medicine then.
A herbal cure…what?I think yor confused here about what is healthy.
If it came down to eating right/exercise, a lot of people would die off from disease, even really fit/people with a good diet.
Bull.
Cyrene what your thinking of is the media’s idea of a healthy diet.Thats not what i’m talking about here. What 99% of doctors, nutritionists, and the media consider to be healthy will in fact destroy your health.Only a few people actually know what a healthy diet is.It’s all a bunch of propaganda put forth in order to maintain profits.Whats actually good for us is far less profitable than whats bad for us.Most medicine is bad for you and only eases your symptoms while further destroying your health. But you’ll never hear a doctor tell you this.Or the FDA.Or any “credible” source for that matter. Why?Because then they can’t make LOADS of cash off selling you their garbage. This is why I posted the link to that book, which nobody even cared to look at,i’m assuming.Maybe you should read it and tell me how laughable it is?I’d like to have a full debunking please. If everyone were to eat properly,we would see a complete disapearence of degenerative disease. That means no more cancer, heart disease, retardation, myopia, dental problems (especially crooked teeth),and the list goes on and on.And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Our food supply is getting worse and worse.Unless we do something about it,it’s only going to get way worse. We are not creating medical technology fast enough to keep up with the degeneration of our race.
I think instead of going over the entire book why not concentrate on the Summary. Iskimmed over the book and found the summary probably the best place to start if you want a discussion on it.

This will make a few people here happy. Others are going to come out and argue a tad ![]()
The guy is promoting ethnic cultural purity and a diet.
