Has anyone here ever heard of the erisian movement, the discordian movement, Robert Anton Wilson, the Illuminatus!, the Principia Discordia or the POEE?
Only heard about it through you. Go on, tell us something interesting about it or write an article about it or something. Don’t just write that. What’s it all about, what’s it got to do with philosophy?
The Discordian movement. Isn’t that the foundation of the Church of the Sub-Genius?
Now the Illuminatus! That is something that I hold dear in my mind. I really don’t know if this falls under philosophy, but the moderator’s should handle it. Some people say that the Illuminati is a scapegoat society for the Masons.

discordianism was created by Lord Omarr Ravenhurst and Malaclypse the Younger. two of the greatest parts of my manifistation. their book the principia discordia (read it at principiadiscordia.com) was what gave me a mental jolt that set me on the path i’m on now. since then i’ve had three mental breakdowns, two talks with the goddess herself, and countless of questions brought up. my life is continually changing and for this i live. the novelty of life never goes away for there is always a new way to look at it. i strongly suggest everyone to read this book. if it doesn’t change your life as it has mine, then so be it…but if it does, eris bless you and keep you. Yes, we have heard of discordia. And yes, we have heard of all those movements. So I have read, “The Goddess, and How I Found Her.” What more is there to this belief system. Please enlighten me. I am dying for more information. I loved what I read, but give me more. Tell me more from a first person account. I have only read what others said. Tell me how to put this into my life, please. I need reality. Show me.
there is the E book on hte ILP main page. looks interesting but too ‘pop’ for my liking.
I ceased reading when the author(s) mentioned a time traveling anthropologist from the 23rd century as a source of their knowledge.
In the second sentence of the introduction, they also misspelled “gonfalons” as “gonfolons”.
I’m sure it’s a great book though. 
discordian.com is a great website that explains discordiansm, how St. Mae (i think that’s who runs it, i’m really not affiliated) interprets and applys discordiansm to hir daily life, links to several other discordian sites and essays, including subgenious
But those of you looking for a pithy discription i would say:
discordianism is eather an elaborate joke disguised as a religion, or a religion disguised as an elaborate joke

i can’t believe that i wrote that RAW sucks. i was stupid and dumb.
I don’t claim to be an expert at discordism, and I’m no follower but here’s my two cents. The reason discordism is so hard to define is because any definition that could be given would be an attempt to apply a conceptual order to it, which is the very thing discordians fight against. The best way to explain discordism is by using a metaphor that I believe appeared in the Illuminatus (a great book). You can imagine that there exist a “real” objective world. When we percieve this world we do so through a set of lenses or goggles (conceptual constructs) we can change this goggles to make the world appear as we want. Sort of like if I put on blue tinted glasses everything stays the same, just with a blue tint. I can switch the lenses out for yellow tinted ones and everything appears yellow. This is what philosophy is, diffrent lenses, it’s still the same world just tinted a little diffrently. I would argue that a true discordian is someone who realizes this and essentially plays with the lenses, never sticking to one, and on one hand realizing that what is sees is not the “real” world however on the other hand he embraces these illusions because in another sense of the word they are real (Is the thought of a unicorn a real thought 
) That’s why defining discordism is so difficult, because to do so would require the discordian to claim a set of lenses and to stick with them. LOL hope that post made sense, and sorry about the spelling mistakes.

it wasn’t Mal-2’s intent to create a religion based on the worship of eris. it was his intent to show the absurdity of religion. he was trying to break down social and religious conditioning. i’ll elaborate later when i have more time.
