Does Etymology assist learning mathematical terms?

Please, can more people answer this question, with just one answer? Gerald Elgar’s answer is too snippy.

Steven Schwartzman would answer yes. See The Words of Mathematics: An Etymological Dictionary of Mathematical Terms Used in English, page 1.

You might want to consider copy/pasting the text in question, that you are citing… :woman_shrugging:

That book you’re quoting from. Does it include the symbols for the terms?

edit: nm. answered my own question

It does have the symbols, but not in the explanation of terms & symbols, and there is no section/index dedicated to symbols and where they can be found in the dictionary. That would’ve been cool.
