Edge of Tomorrow is an alien fighting movie with a Groundhog’s Day movie twist. I’m not going to ruin it for you if you haven’t seen it, but there are some thoughts that are cool to play with.
First, all the predictable knowns that remain despite tweaks/variations make it feel like a video game, as well as all the respawns. You are then better able to triage (prioritize) your responses to critical knowns.
Learning all the predictable knowns gives an advantage similar to, but over & above, being merely battle ready (trained, equipped—prerequisites without which that advantage is lost).
And at some point, there are no more resets, and no time left to learn the predictable knowns.
And the predictable knowns do not negate freedom, but result from it just like the re-educated/re-informed variations.
The ending … leaves you scratching your head about why the aliens were there. Just like you’re scratching your head throughout Groundhog’s Day, trying to figure out what point he has to get to stop the repeating day.
What predictably repeats for you? What point are you missing that will free you from the repetition with re-educated/re-informed variation?
