Erik's New Forum

I have a new forum up. This one is legit.

I’m still going to use this forum ( ILP ) primarily, but once my forum gets running and has more members, then I will spend more time over there.

Feel free to join:

academyofexcellence.forumotion.com

I gather you are hoping for an elite clientele/to build a creative-salonesque community… with a name like that? with chat facility of course

Haha It’s catchy, right? The subtle air of snobbery and pomposity inherent in it is what makes it all the more potent.

It surprises me that you haven’t been banned from forumotion yet.

I’m not even sure if they do that; one could simply use a VPN or change their ip address.

…and alluring.

I might have to come visit, to bask in the supercharged aura of the Academy.

You are more than welcome, Magz.

Be sure to bring some wine and Mozart, so we can ruminate on the complexities of cellular evolution. And later, we can attend a steeplechase, then return back to my estate to become even more capernoited.

I like your estate. It doesn’t seem at all pretentious, Erik. Something quite simple but elegant in its presence. I hope you have a swimming pool for when I come to visit and a nice weeping willow under which I can sit and read. Can I bring my cat? :evilfun:

Hey - thanks, Arc :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh yes, I have it all here. There is no shortage of luxury items, I can assure you of that. Bring your cat and your melancholic tears, they have a place here. Oh, by the way - I hope you like unicorns; I have a whole stable chock-full of them.

Ampara and your children will have their own air-infused playground and a lovely trampoline imported from Italy custom-made with golden lining.

Erik_

You’re quite welcome, Erik. But who needs luxury items?
If I need luxury, I go walk under the stars at night, I walk in the rain or in a nice falling snow, I sit on a park bench and watch the squirrels scampering after each other, I close my eyes and listen to the sounds of the birds chirping, I sit in a nice bubble bath. (Stop it Erik) lol, I flow and ebb through Debussy or Chopin or…and allow my melancholic tears to flow but they are reserved for moments of inner awareness and awakening. I don’t waste them.

Those things are luxury for me. On second thought, I may leave Yoda home.

Being a bit hedonistic here, aren’t we? :evilfun: All that children need would be a “safe” trampoline. Do you really think that they would notice custom-made with golden lining? How decadent can you get.

 If this playground is under the sea, I am all for that. lol

I really don’t think that I would like that and I do not think that those unicorns would either. I would free them to roam the earth.

I remember a scene from “The Misfits”. It was a truly horrible tragic scene for me when Clark Gable and two others were trying to and succeeded in capturing, roping these beautiful wild and free horses. He got one, roped him, got this noble animal on the ground and was tying up his legs. The poor horse was fighting back, Freddie would have be proud of him. You can feel the horse’s agony and fear, even though you realize at the same time that the scene was not real…at least in these moments they weren’t. The brain does it to us, you know. You should have heard me lol. I was cursing Gable and the other two out, and so was Marily Monroe. That for me may have been her greatest moment as an actress lol. I was screaming kind of quietly, crying oh so much crying. It was such a horrible scene. I wondered at the time too what those horses, what that horse actually felt and was he abused or was he or she acting too? Horrible thing to do to an animal, any animal but to one so noble and beautiful and wild - we humans are sometimes lower than the animals. They have more consciousness than we do. Alright, sorry to derail this thread…

I do not think You derailed it at all. It’s just that i am a bit concerned for poor Clark Gable, who was trying so terribly hard to be the daddy that his very young son needed at that time, and all the exertions required to round up all those wild horses,it was just too much fo the man. His infant son, can only gloat in his father’s footsteps.

An even better offering toward animal cruelty, is a Jane Fonda vehicle. ’ They kill horses, don’t they?’
Barbarella really outdid herself, in that one.

.deleted content not suitable for this forum

Darn it, Sweet Rumi, why did you delete it? For YOU to say that it was not suitable - THAT I would have loved to read.
Such things peak my curiosity. I would have loved to see another side of you.

All right You talked me into it. But at least I can minimize the damage, and You get the expurgated edition.

It goes like this: I got carried away with horses, and

All kinds of connotations came to my mind, like Nietzsche’s city square scene with the horse which
was his eventual break down. In addition, the Trojan
Horse of description came into mind, and suddenly there appeared the beautiful woman who launched a thousand ships, or so they say, then the very
unfortunate empress Katharine the First, who was
caught corpus delicti as a consequence of having far too much fondness for a stallion, and of course, the prince rushing to rescue the princess from her tower
of high, and who can forget the famous line by
Richard the Third, ‘A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse’?
I have a special fondness for poor Richard, and i am
not sure if he had an almanac, either.

Now You see, Arc, where free association can lead You, away from clarity, backwards into and a flight toward the obscurity, sometimes preferable, never
knowing where You will end up, well literally, at least.
I admire modern warfare, for the very reason that You don’t see the hundreds of horses falling by the
wayside, as the battles of olden days were etched for
posterity, when they were killed in battle, lanced ,and from their sad teary eyes, you could almost fathom their confusion as to why they have to lay down their lives for their master who so loved him.

We all know of the seven horses, at the end times, as they herald the coming of something new, and i wonder if, in the end, there is some kind of retribution.

The blinkof a horse’s eye sees for what appears an incomprehensible sequence of evemts, i guess, and appearently is able and willing to lay down it’s existence for us, not really knowing that maybe it is better not to know, since it offers no relizable redemption, only further and further sinking into doubt beyond the pleasure principle. Darwin and Freud did us a disservice, they broke up a continuum, and re-affirmed the duplicity which so long occupied men’s mind since Descartes.

I suggest the following alteration : amo ergo sum.

New promo video for my forum:

I can imagine a person’s interest would be ignited simply by your interesting voice. (if it is you speaking)

A person’s voice for me, is an important critera.

Take for example David Beckham, handsome, but as soon as he speaks :open_mouth:

Whereas Erik, I am surprised and indeed delighted. :astonished:

Yeah, that’s my voice. My father has an even deeper one ( got it from him ).

Well, I was aiming for the substance of the video to be the primary allure, but if my voice is ancillary to that, then so be it

You know whose voice I love - James Earl Jones. There is also something about Matthew Broderick’s voice –
A few other people who I can’t remember at the moment also.

You sound like you need to go poo poo in the potty, kiddo.

Lmao !
