Evidently human females are born with all of their eggs already in their body. I have often speculated that some form of radiation might some day make every human female egg sterile.

If I had the power to sterilize all human female eggs and thus in 100 years clear the planet of humans I would give it careful consideration.
I suspect that within the next 200 years we humans will most likely bring an end to our species and possibly the end to all life on this planet.
I think that the only way to prevent this is for our species to become much more intellectually sophisticated than it is now; I see little evidence that this will occur. The problems we face today are enormous and while we have the brain power to prevent this we may well not have the necessary character traits to do so. I suspect our species is a dead end species.

You’d have to be very precise with this kind of science. There is always a chance that a few women will still give birth, and chances are, women that do, will give birth to deformed children. So what you will have is women suddenly giving birth to freaks, which would draw world attention, which, in turn will lead to investigation and prevention measures.
They used to try using quinacrine in 3rd world countries (sometimes without consent), but because of its controversial nature it became banned in many countries.
If we’re going to bring about the end of humanity in 200 years, why fertilize the women? I mean, if it’s going to happen anyway, why hurry it along? Just let nature take it’s course.
That’s like saying, “well the ozone layer will be completely dissolved in 200 years, so we should try to destroy it within the next 100.”
Ummm, I’m not sure, but I think the extinction of the human species will come when ideas proliferate the internet with thread upon thread upon thread, in forum upon forum, upon forum, and then there is no follow up to focus.

If all females were sterile, it’d take about a week to create artificial human eggs. Seriously.
if you think that science wouldn’t find a solution to that problem, with hundreds of thousands of people working together, thats… kinda absurd. We solve insanely complex problems, with society working normally. Society focused like a lazer on one single goal, would provide innovative solutions.
The human animal would still needed as part of the ecological system. It is thought that should be removed not the animal. Nature would not miss the entity that presently calls itself- “self”. Contaminants will alter the human body, Maybe hopefully the change will dispell the brains’ ability to experience thought and then maybe then “we” will then disappear.
