I’ve always just used whatever keyboard my computer came with. That was usually enough for me. I didn’t really know much about keyboards, didn’t know that there was a real difference.
And then I just happened to read some stuff about mechanical keyboards. Cherry MX keys specifically.
For my birthday, my wife bought me a Cherry MX Blue keyboard, from a company aptly named Cherry (that link is to a pic of the American keyboard layout, mine is UK).
I thought I wanted brown, told my wife I wanted brown. She got me blues based on what people said they liked, and…I like it quite a lot. I have a few issues with my new keyboard, but I really do like blues now.
When you say ‘apple keyboard’, is that scissor switch? My keyboard on my mac is quite quiet, and I think it’s scissor switch.
I don’t really know much about keyboards, except that I type really fast and so I need mine to be extremely responsive. I don’t know if I’ve ever typed on a mechanical keyboard.
I recently bought a nice little wireless number that I’m enjoying very much, and that works up to 30 feet away from the computer. Why anyone would need that, I don’t know. I moved 15 feet away and, of course it worked perfectly, but I couldn’t see the print until I moved closer to the screen.
