Can you explain to me in no uncertain terms why this is any different or more special than any other country refusing entry to certain people?
Perhaps I am a little naive, but in the case of the Iranian team visiting the USA, I thought the US government missed an opportunity. The folks from war-ravaged Iran could have been welcomed with open arms. They could have had all their needs satisfied. Excellent food, accommodation; generally treated in a most hospitable fashion. Regardless of their footballing success or failings, they would have returned to war-ravaged Iran with nothing but the utmost respect and praise for their hosts. Just a thought.
Ditto the referee from war-ravaged Somalia.
Ditto the president from war-ravaged Palestine.

Do you have any kind of idea what i.e. Israel does on a day to day basis when it comes to this question?
On a day to day basis? As far as I’m aware, they kill children in Gaza.
Welcome, please, come in, Mister Netanyahu.
The USA is a Christian nation. I’m guessing the original idea came from Jesus?
Really? Did Jesus also tell you to abandon your faith and submit to the next religion that comes along and tells you that your beliefs are intolerant and that they disagree with them?
Do unpack if for me please. What else did Jesus say.
Did he also teach to have your fellow countrymen massacred because the far left side of the shit stain that is your uniparty requires additional votes?
Why not just delete your borders altogether and have mexico take you over for shits and giggles? You could have the cartels kill entire school buses just like over there.
Oh no, wait wait, let me guess. Its only tolerant and justifiable till its other people’s children who get raped. Like how Jesus taught and meant it.
Give me a nudge once you are done with your breathing exercises, and point me towards which sermon that was because apparently we listened to two different ones.
I recommended the breathing exercises because you seemed to be getting a little heated, dare I say, angry, and that with a complete stranger. Someone who doesn’t see the world the way you see it!
As far as the sermon on the mount is concerned, perhaps post a transcript of the two you ‘listened’ to. Perhaps then I’ll be in a better position to point you to the ‘speech’ that the pesky, demanding Jesus chappy is purported to have made.
Canada are eliminated by a team from Morocco. 3-0.
I have no issue with the fact that you see the world differently than i do. Not one single bit.
The issue is the constant, perpetual inconsistency of finding these moral and ethical problems to be upset about, but always only directed in one particular direction.
The lofty ideals are never extended in both directions.
The heart that bleeds for some random imaginary suffering people simultaneously takes a literal shit on murder, death and torture happening in their own backyard.
Also the hypocrisy. Always only talking in the name of all, never themselves.
Its always how the country should abolish itself, let in everyone, do this, do that, and the first moment the consequence of these problems comes to visit these people in person, they will ban it, outlaw it, deport it, move it, complain about it like dear Marthas Vineyard, which instantly decided to throw everyone the f out the moment it was their problem.
I absolutely do not have an issue if you see or think differently from me.
But the operative words are SEE and THINK. Not blind and feel.
Im beyond sick and tired of all the hypocritical double standards and nonsense at this point which exist just for the sake of feel good ego fattening emotional bs.
And most of that frustration is not directed at you personally either. Its a build up of decades.
France was really, really lucky to get out a win in that game…
I didn’t know that there was any bad blood between the two,
France and Paraguay… and if there wasn’t before, it’s there
now…
much of the commentary I am reading, is really going after
the Ref for not controlling the game… Paraguay was fairly
violent in their attacks on French players and yet, not much
in the way of cards on Paraguay…
He was lenient, Kropotkin.
I’m sure he has his reasons. It may be that he is sick and tired of seeing players throwing themselves to the ground over the slightest little knock. We know it’s little more than a knock because one of four hundred and seventeen cameras will have captured the incident.
That’s one reason. It may be that prior to the game he watched the Chelsea vs Leeds Cup Final from 1970. That was brutal; today’s game was a tea party.
It wasn’t pretty. One or two members of the Paraguayan side did the game a disservice with a number of cynical challenges.
Three! “If you’re going to be a referee, try and be lenient, it’s a man’s game - boys will be boys. And if you’re going to be a player, don’t be seen rolling around on the ground like some namby-pamby, it’s a man’s game,” - were the last words his grandfather spoke to him! He worshipped his grandfather.
It could be any one of a number of things.
Come on! What things? Do you know why the ref was so lenient?
That’s debateable, I read somewhere that such is the purpose of a koan. You’d probably know more about that than me. I’m sure Jakob could tell us more.
I’ll pay you when you tell me about the things.
“It’s true, I am not well known for my intelligence. That is because my intelligence is not well known.”
Oscar Wilde said that as he was going through customs in New York.
Things!
That is just a snippet of your post. I haven’t responded because I don’t really understand what you were striving to convey! Who were you describing? It’s my fault that I didn’t understand! It’s just one of those things!
PK, I’m not convinced they were really, really lucky. Lucky perhaps, to come out of the game unscathed.
Mbappe is something else.
If he doesn’t ‘work’ - the likelihood is Dembele will ‘work’ - he is something else - Ballon D’Or winner. Love watching the pair of them. They have a full supporting cast - they have talent all over the pitch. They also have plenty of talent in reserve. Les Bleus are looking good.
What do you suppose would have happened had I nurtured the child’s natural ability to kick an object - on a daily basis? Would he turn up one day having lost the ability to use both feet, equally well? What would have to happen in his brain for him to lose that natural ability?
Incidentally, you’re being very generous. I’m grateful for your input.
I am not bitching about MY intelligence. Cast your mind back - you arrived on the scene and you were immediately dismissive of my lack of intelligence, a charge I am happy to acknowledge. In order to refine my intelligence, I asked you for define intelligence. And here we are. 6-15 in the morning, just reached my bed, and I am tapping out a message on a phone, one finger doing all the work. Not too intelligent! It could have waited. Enjoying the football?
To sleep…
That’s my point. He didn’t have a natural ability with both feet. He just wasn’t using enough intention to go for his dominant foot. Maybe too he was too young to have developped a dominant side. But it was going to happen. Not a single person violates this rule. Even “ambidexterous” people are better with one hand or foot than the other if you pay attention.
Therefore my answer is that, if you had done that, maybe his weak side would be a little stronger than otherwise, and maybe that would have detracted from his strong side development if we imagine an equal amount of time and effort used. Probably there is an optimal training balance, to be fair, but the strong side will always remain considerably stronger. My opinion.
I was just continuing my line of being an asshole.
Brazil vs Norway at 9 pm UK time. Who doesn’t enjoy watching the Brazilians?
Fast forward 4 hours to 1 am UK time when England take on Mexico in the Azteca stadium in Mexico City. The England side face a stiff test. Mexico have lost just two games in the stadium since 1742. I understand their excellent record has much to do with the stadium being 2000 metres above sea level.
The Azteca stadium is where the mercurial Diego Maradona scored his ‘hand of God’ goal’ (he cheated). He followed it up with one of the finest goals ever scored in World Cup history. Who can forget the figure of Peter Reid jogging (he was running as fast as his tired little legs would carry him) alongside Maradona in a forlorn effort to get anywhere near the phenomenal Argentinian.
it was just announced that the US striker Folarin Balogun
can play in tomorrow’s game… the red card he got was voided
out by FIFA… I like our chances much better now that he
can play… and as far as the two games today, I believe both
games will be excellent games… 4 really good teams playing
today…I am guessing that Spain wins the first game and
that England will win the second… we will see…
