For all us thinkers at ILP, why do barely argree on anything

Ready to listen to your varied responses.

As Shamgar (see Social Science index) has pointed out, and shown in himself, there is very little difference between the views of most of the posters here; (and I do not claim to be an exception).

Experts never agree, which of course makes their expert status suspect.

Okay, i would like us to list thoughts and categorize them in an attempt to control. First off, how many ILP posters think nothingness is the end of all things? I think nothing deserves a category all its own.

Etonin, i want to KNOW that girl in your advatar.

Very cool obserseravtion, seriously. You could make a website and sell t-shirts about it. Yes?

I’m a generalist. I don’t know how to make websites. :-k

…the assumed premise being that the truth has only one face.

When you’re talking about if there’s a God or not, that’s a 50-50 proposition, given the facts, so opinion will be all over the universe.

But if you’re talking about science, simple morality, economics or politics, I think we are pretty close, deep down–but many ignore or lie against the obvious for many reasons, most having to do with emotions or trying to give yourself an advantage at the expense of the Truth.

I only try to agree with myself.

I am very proud of the fact that when i read old posts which i may have forrotten completely, i still agree with them wholeheartedly.

I’ve not seen any other pics of her, I think she’s amature. But we can certainly all agree she’s a hottie!

We shoot ourselves in the foot from the beginning?

Experience and knowledge is infinite, no? Can we agree on that?

In turn, there are an infinite number of potential configurations (i.e., individuals).

Think of it: if you agree with someone about ANYTHING, you’re already beating the odds.

It is where they agree that we feel safe in their knowing… That’s the trick…

Maybe because it’s more likely for us to write a response when we disagree.

Also, probably because of your fear of confrontations, you notice more of disagreements than agreements.
There are many posts in which posters agree, at least partially.

And if we always agree on everything, we don’t need to discuss anything, unless you want to keep posting, “Yes, I agree”, “me to. I agree”, “Of course, we all agree”, “Oh yeah, you agree”, “Nah Nah. I’m not disagreeing” …
So, naturally, we tend to see more of disagreement than agreement in discussion forum like this.

If you don’t like it, maybe you should find/create a forum of different nature, like a forum for a hobby or a forum for sharing good feeling, same religious beliefs, etc.

N.B.,
I’ve found agreement here on a wide range of issues. I have no agenda other than finding like-minded souls or good rigor. Agreement is not always necessary or sufficient. What is your agenda? I don’t see it spelled out anywhere.

ego, i think that we all consciously or subconsciously desire to have our own unique perspective and to be “right” but through “our own” method

Nietzsche.

Never was a truer word said.

Because we’re all at different points in our philosophical development.
