Even if it is a tongue in cheek jest you still learn from many of his comments. Well,that is , unless he pulls the guns out and starts taking pot shots at liberals.

You also underestimate the value of jokes in serious discourse (see last sentence). Humor says some of the truest things in all the world.
This joke illuminates how both parties believe in indoctrination, can value their ideology over friendship, and how both parties use hasty conclusions to back their logic.
Also, like Faust said, you can turn this around to be an attack on conservatives. The spread of a joke can say just as much as the content, for example.
Personally, I don’t think the joke is biting enough to warrant much of a reaction.

The problem with the OP, for me, is that it does not differentiate very well and does not address other causes for homeless people, beside the smuck, and confortable belief that it is just lazy people who become homeless. Why should I, or you or the little girl work to compensate for the lack of work of another? Can’t he work him/herself? Which is the presumption. So I asked if the man was capable of working on his lawn. If he is then let him earn his keep, as all that makes him homeless is his own lack of effort, therefore he merits his homelessness. But, you seem informed. Are you going to tell me that homelessness has nothing to do with ailments, mental or otherwise, and other circumstances outside of the person’s control?
Social programs are already in place, like Social Security and Medicaid because the argument Imp presents is misrepresentative of reality. No one is “entitled” to a home regardless of their lack of effort, but when having a home is beyond their ability and efforts, then we, more blessed by whatever, or just lucky, should step in and not let them just die like dogs on a city bench. Conservatives want abortion to be abolished. That means that anyone, financially able or not, is left to have as many babies as they are able to produce. Of these, some are bound to end up homeless, jobless and sick. Without social programs that take from the many to care for the few, we condemn the sanctity of life we preach when we rail against abortion. “Pro-life” should not end at conception or birth.
Given the lows to which low-brow humor can go, this joke is strictly middle brow.

Imp did nothing he’s a catalyst, imp never does anything except post garbage, therein is the problem and the reason people get fed up with him. Don’t congratulate the terminally imp-otent unless they do something that merits it. If you ask me practically everything he posts is pretty much an ill considered troll atm. It would be nice to assume that he earned his mod status with things he thought about for more than five minutes. And that’s all I’ll say, I’ve made my point.

Are you trying to say he made that up? If you learn anything from that its that some Republicans have disappeared up their own arses and are clueless about social issues. I can’t think of anything else it would reveal. Like I say if you’re going to try and make sophisticated political statements try actually knowing something about the subject you are “sending” up. Honestly, I’ve seen people get banned for less on other forums. I know that’s not their style here. If I were a mod and you mouthed off to me the way you are to the other mods I’d ban you for a day just to make a point.
But I’m not a mod and have no desire to be one. So I’ll just continue to ask for bans that won’t happen.

Perhaps it is because some of us have been around Imp for quite a while. If you have not then of course your reaction is the norm.
Perhaps, but I wish he’d put some effort into his thoughts. I’m assuming at some time he impressed enough to be made a moderator of the forum. And I assume since he has contributor under his name he has given this forum more than Haiku poetry. I’m struggling to understand why he’s a moderator going on what I’ve seen? If its the norm doesn’t that suggest that they have a point? Or is he just an Ent that seldom stirs? And wishes only to be left in peace with his thoughts. If so then I will, but it seems a waste of any talents he has as yet not demonstrated. Anyway I’m done before I come off sounding like a jerk, if its not already too late.
We’ve all seen bad moderation. I had kind of got the impression that this place was quite good that way. Forums that are run like a fascist state keeping the herd in line are usual quite lifeless in my experience. All forums are a fascist state to some extent but that doesn’t mean they are necessarily bad forums. I’m not challenging the moderation, just imp personally, obviously, or more correctly his style of non posting. Considering what I done, and talking about the moderators here, I’ve gotten off lightly.
