Thank you for your co-operation.
I see two smilies (I see you added the ‘irony’ qualifier), capitalizing ‘Faust Powers’ and ‘Thunder of the Gods’, capitalizing and contracting Banhammer, saying ‘Faustian Banhammer’, and using the phrase ‘meer mortals’. What do you see?
I can’t be any more plain. Do you really think I use clichés like ‘meer mortals’ when I’m not being facetious?
I think you need to get your funny bone checked.
Yes, that was a joke too.
But seriously, it’s way up your rectum, I think.
That was a joke too.
It’s not as fun when I have to tell you which lines are jokes and which aren’t.
That last one wasn’t a joke.
Taken together, the last six lines could be a joke, though.
Taken together, every post in this thread could be a joke.
That last line isn’t a joke either. But it is funny.
I got a million of 'em!
He’s here all week, folks.
And remember, there’s never a cover charge here at ILP.
Hah, “gherkin”. Would you like some tea and crumpets?
I don’t really like Branston. Too much sugar.
Anthem, I find you shallow and pedantic.
Is…is that a joke?
Oh come on. Family guy? It’s such a classic line! “I find this meatloaf rather shallow and pedantic”.
I’m not a religious follower of Family Guy, but that line does ring a bell.
I figured you were joking. Us MEs gotta stick together.
Haha - I like very much!
Humour? That is illogical captain.
Is that not a bone?
Speak for yourself why don’t you. I tell you what’s “funny” to me, this thread because it’s clown shoes. That is to say just inherently ridiculous by design. Now if you don’t mind I’m off to have my humerus bone funned out of my anus by a sausage fingered proctologist.
I don’t find it ‘patronising’, it’s mostly just the usual nonsense. The only difference far as I could tell is that it was a post that contained more than 2 sentences, lol.
See, the deal with these Teaparty idealogue types is that they are completely fooled by the ‘leaders’ that they support. They buy into dumb beliefs, like there’s a liberal elite group (because ittsa conspiracy, y’know) behind all the ‘freebies’ given to the poor, ‘rewarding’ them for being shiftless and lazy, instead of giving those rewards to the Teapartiers, who view themselves as the deserving hard workers and upright patriotic, flag-waving, troop-supporting citizens who just haven’t been able to make a go of it because the lazy, poor, dark-skinned ones are getting everything. Truly, they’re buying into such crapola exactly as the conservative elite wants them to, being the cute little populists that they are out there in all those Hicksvilles, USA. Which, btw, receive more federal aid per capita than those evil urban areas close to the coastlines. Wherein, btw, lie a great many of the ‘elite’ universities that educate some of the best minds our country has to offer and do the research that results in amazing innovations that benefit humanity in innumberable ways. But, no…these folks don’t see it this way. And they’re very good at following directions, which is why the authoritarian model fits them so well. They have no interest in complex issues, because they can’t grasp complexity and, as a result, they tend to view people who can grasp it, and who act or sound educated, with suspicion. Why do you think most of these sorts of posts are one-liners? Why do you think such folk gravitate toward the professed ideology of the likes of Dubya or Mrs. Palin and her work-husband Joe the Plumber? They view simplistic thinking and talking to be synonymous with being an ‘outsider’ and that being an outsider is good, because that’s what THEY are. When they go to that dark little place in their dark little minds, they realize that they’re being left farther and farther behind. They’re uneducated, not terribly marketable, except in the sorts of union-backed blue collar jobs that don’t live in America anymore (and Wal-mart pays crappy), and they’re not capable of keeping pace with the society they see around them.
They’re…well…victims.
That’s not quite correct. Yes, there was a progressive push in the 70’s to give mentally ill people some basic rights, including the right not to be forced to live in mental institutions where, admittedly, conditions were often deplorable. However, those initiatives included alternatives like group homes or other living situations where the mentally ill would still receive the vital services they needed. But what happened, at least here in California, was that a big fat SOB conservative named Ronald Reagan (who should be despised forever by all decent people) cut the funding for those initiatives AND closed many of the mental hospitals. As a result, a huge population of mentally ill people joined the fraternity of the homeless on our city streets over the next couple of decades. A healthy chunk of them eventually took up residence in our county jails and state prisons. Not such a bad deal, though, because it costs a lot less to house an inmate than it does to provide humane care for a mentally ill person.
Well my fellow engineer, Anthem, my experience is that there’s only a select group of people who know something about something:
There’s bankers and economists who know whatever there’s to know about finance, and help the economy grow by loaning money out to companies and providing consultancy.
There’s lawyers who help those companies sue other companies when they come on their turf.
There’s doctors who’ll ‘fix’ the people that operate in those companies, and everybody else.
There’s the engineers that make the world run by giving everyone electricity, cars, air conditioning, refrigerators, televisions, computers, and just about everything.
And then there’s everybody else, including politicians, with a lot of opinions and jack shit worth of useful knowledge. Though perhaps I’m too cynical. Hah.
That was kind of rude.
Thanks for agreeing with Chad Daniels, at least. Of course, you know by agreeing with that you are essentially agreeing with the intention of the OP. There are people that are in a certain place and it is entirely their own fault they are there, so they need to get themselves out of that place. Either that, or be forced to get themselves out of that place.
You think in a Socialist or even Communist country such people are taken care of, get anything for free? No. If you can’t perform menial physical labor, the Government will find something you can do, except in extreme circumstances.
And unlike America, being a single, never wed Mother of three where all three have different Fathers two of the Fathers are in jail and the third is unemployed is not considered an extreme circumstance worthy of not having to contribute to society in some way.
No I don’t agree that they are the same thing, fat people and the homeless it’s a bad analogy. I said he had a point, he also is suggesting a way to help fat people get thin by exercising. Where as the OP was merely there to take pot shots at people who are unable to respond and has absolutely no intent beyond mockery.
Hey I’m tired of the thoughtless BS so sue me. I’m getting that some Republicans are really dummards because they buy into such thinly veiled conceit from the OP whoever that political dullard was who originated it. But lets face it I have to be practically psychic to get anything else from it because there’s no discussion by the culprit who posted it apart from the usual Haiku nothings. I can only assume that some people approve of it because they have no wish to think too deeply about troubling social issues, and not the slightest care beyond their own doorstep or bank balance.
It’s a joke!!!
Jokes are about timing.
A joke that takes twelve minutes to read pretty much automatically has bad timing.
There are plenty of people who live entirely on the taxpayer due to their lack of effort in America.
He is suggesting a way that the homeless could refrain from being homeless, by mowing lawns.
That’s a shame, because I’ve got this great one about Amish people…
No jokes are about being funny actually which is subjective.
Timing doesn’t translate well in written formats.
Yes he’s a saint. as soon as someone decides to find work money falls magically from heaven and a house lands on you. Oh please don’t try and justify the OP: it’s retarded, it doesn’t become less retarded by imagining it is what it isn’t.
