God is my word for the glue that holds everything together, and lets us work for ourselves. We may work off of the idea of a higher power if it helps us to reach our own inner peace, however some people do not need something to pray to, for they never have lost that peace. The others, and I fall into this category because I had my inner peace beaten out of me by my initiation into the adult world, have to make a deal with God. Within us all is inherent evil, for goodness inverted is everywhere around us in the world. We have to find a way to block that out, and completely keep those thoughts out of our mind. This is why I pray, and I pray to a thing called God. Not the mythical creature who sits in the sky and commands us, although that may exist too, but the understanding that if we do good, we have goodness returned to us. Hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil. Good karma. That is my understanding of a god. When I pray for the return of my inner child and everything good that comes with that, I say amen and send the thought to a being called God. That’s just me, however, and I find it extremely ignorant when people fight over a name for God, when radicals of religions wage evil war against each other to spread their understanding of God, which is always the exact same understanding… something bigger than ourselves. I have recently realized we are all our own gods, and peace comes from within us and radiates out, as does hate if we feel it come in.
yes i agree with you that is why my higher power is God and not anything else i am a firm believer in the Holy Spirit, whom i BELIEVE died and rose again
