I have a fair idea of the Christian followers in ILP, but am not sure if there are Jewish believers of God here. The subject I propose is aimed mainly at these two sects of religious beliefs, but comments from others are welcomed too. If comments are made from other beliefs, please use constructive and thoughtful ones.

As far as I’m concerned the God I worship is the same One the Jewish faith believes in. Some know me here as a Christian. My knowledge of the Jewish faith (Jewish believers please correct me) is their texts consist of the Books of the Old Testament ( the Tanakh) and they must adhere strictly to the teachings therein. The Christian faith takes in the Old Testament and the New Testament for guidance and spiritual redemption. With the New Testament being the main focus concerning Jesus being the New Covenant for redemption of sins.

If there is something critical to the both assessments of the two faiths, please interject what I may have missed.

I voted that jews and christians worship the same god.

Me too. But I would still try to convert a Jew to Christainity if given half a chance…

Once I would have too. But no more. Better to dialogue. That way we both may learn.

As far as i’m concerned, Christians, Jews and Muslims all worship the same God. I know Muslims tend to have a more personal relationship with Allah, but it’s essentially the same God since they’re all Abrahamic religions anyways.

That may very well be true, but the doctrines are different in how they view and worship God

Correct me if I’m mistaken, but I don’t think the Holy Father is even mentioned in the Old Testament.

I can’t say I recall ‘Holy Father’ mentioned there either. I have only heard that term used for the pope.

Orthodox Jews don’t believe you worship the same God. I don’t know about conservative and reform though. I’d probably say they don’t believe either.

Isn’t the Holy Trinity as follows: the Father (who is embodied by the Pope), the Son (who is embodied by Jesus), and the Holy Spirit?

No, Christians believe in the Father God, Jesus and Holy Spirit as the 3 members of the triune God. The Pope is a completely different issue. Even Catholics don’t think he’s anything other than a holy human being. I admit his title “Holy Father” is a little confusing…
