I don’t know what America really is but if you are an American and this version of My Country Tis of Thee by Kelly Clarkson doesn’t stir in you everything that is hope - everything that America stands for I don’t know how to react to you.

Goosebumps. Goosebumps like I haven’t had in years.
I wish there was a version that did not have the commentator’s voice over.
Enjoy.
My thesis for this thread: America is still humanity’s best hope. Pure philosophical hope for each of us. The best in each of us.As much as we enjoy intellectual approach to philosophical concepts, music and song has the capability to stir us; our essence.
God bless Barack Hussain Obama. God bless the United States of America. God thank you for hope.

Just pointing out, to those Americans who don’t know, that even their patriotic tunes are not theirs. Like this one, from a British aristocratic drinking club song:
Did the point just go right over your head? It doesn’t matter if the tune is the same, the song isn’t ABOUT the tune, it’s about the lyrics and the feelings they provoke. This is not the case with all songs, but with anything patriotic, that’s pretty much what it’s about.
You just take any chance you get to bash Americans. It’s tired.
And I mean, call me fucking crazy, but I’d GUESS that the tune is the same because the people who founded our country came from gasp YOUR country.
I wouldn’t feel any kind of way about it, because of what I mentioned above.
Also, I don’t think it’s the Americans here that are sensitive. Every single time anyone brings up difference between our two nations, you jump all over that shit. It’s all over the damn boards, I don’t know who you’re trying to fool here unless it’s yourself. It’s not so much that I think my country is the greatest country on earth and get pissed when people talk shit - that’s your area of expertise - but more that I’m getting sick of the anti-American bullshit you’ve been spewing for the past couple of weeks. This isn’t the first time you’ve been called on your hyper-sensitivity to “which nation is better,” either.
I am merely trying to put the other point of view, about guns for example, from the experience of someone who lives in a country that has dealt with the problem. If you find that to be anti-American, then I think that makes you a little over sensitive.
I believe America should ban guns. And the reason I believe that is that I actually care about your welfare. I shall continue to express such care in whatever way I wish.
