GOP business as usual...

From daily Kos: GovStitt.png
Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt (R) just returned from a TFG fundraiser with a request for his state legislature to give out $700 Million for a company he refuses to name and the Republican controlled legislature did it without releasing the bill to the public.

K: nothing to see here… just more corruption in a GOP state…

here is the rest of the article…

" Oklahoma has suffered under RW policies, failing schools and bad healthcare policies causing many skilled workers to leave the state. In 2021, the Oklahoma Journal Record reported that the lack of skilled workers is causing problems for those companies that are already in Oklahoma because companies that need highly skilled employees just can’t find them because the skilled workforce is so small.

Still, the governor thinks he can pay people enough to build a factory like Walker did in Wisconsin with Foxconn. Foxconn never hired anyone and later claimed there was never any intention to build what Walker and TFG had promised. Stitt said he signed a non-disclosure agreement preventing him from saying the name of the company or revealing anything about the job possibilities and financials of the project. Still, with nothing to go on, Stitt asked the GOP-led legislature to pass a package for the company, with details to come later. The legislature did it, offering at least $3.6 billion. Reports say the company has said it would create up to 4,000 jobs over 5 years with no promises that any of those would be permanent positions. That’s $900,000 per job.

It is thought that the company is Panasonic because they are looking to build a car battery factory to supply Tesla. Ironically, as an oil and gas state, the Republican officials have rejected electronic vehicles and green energy technologies. There is currently a restriction preventing people from putting solar or wind energy they generate from their own properties back on the electrical grid and this year, Oklahoma’s House Bill 3994 would prohibit sales of Tesla cars in Oklahoma. So, if the company is Panasonic, Oklahoma would pay $3.6 billion to a company to make batteries for cars that the state’s people can’t even buy.

Edit: Originally posted as $3.6 Billion

After a mention bellow and further research, Washington Post, it seems that the actual amount approved was $700 million. Still, it’s a huge amount for that state and was approved without any knowledge of what company or just how the money will be spent. Shades of Foxconn."
