So the main guy was kind of nuts. But he took a chance and did something completely different. Maybe he would have committed suicide, but instead he chose to try something new. He decided to try living in peace with the bears in Alaska. And he did, for quite a while, before one of them decided to eat him and a nutty girlfriend for lunch.
So in the end, the bear had to be punished for eating a man and a woman. Some nutty guy went up to this wilderness area in Alaska with his gun, and shot and killed the bear. I think he did it from a helicoptor, if I remember correctly.
I’ve heard more than one person rage against the main nutty guy, as if he was evil. I think they’re nuts.

It’s been a long time since i watched that film, and i don’t much remember the guy with the gun, but i don’t think the main guy was crazy, persay - more just an eccentric who was following the path of what he loved to do - i feel pretty confident that the main guy was probably smart enough to know that one day he would die at the hands of the creatures he loved - he may even have planned it that way - i didn’t get the sense that he was oblivious to the dangers of what he was doing - and, in my mind, he would have had to have some kind of invincibility complex in order to really be crazy, or truly believe that he was somehow so attuned with the bears that they would never hurt him - and that’s not the impression i got - he seemed to have a lot of respect for the danger involved.
I do sort of remember one helicopter dude railing against the main guy like he was the embodiment of all that is wrong with the world, and i remember not really being able to fathom why he was so angry and hostile towards a man who really wasn’t causing any harm to anyone except himself That helicopter guy was probably a little crazy . . . or maybe he was just an asshole redneck who likes murdering animals from the air. Either way, he sucked.
I remember the one thing that pissed me off about the film was that they didn’t play the recording of the attack - i thought that was really lame - otherwise it was a really good documentary
I gotta say it’s the bear who’s craziest. I mean, come on, being reincarnated as a grizzly in this day and age?? What was that very subtle self thinking!!
