Is it following directions and obeying laws? for which laws/ directions?
is to put yourself to death? nah.
Is it to avoid problems? but that would still be following orders/ laws/ instructions again?
what is the solution ?

Of course I have no answer to this, but let me tell a story I once read;
A farmer came to the Buddha to ask him for help with his problems. He taked elaborately about each one of them.
To his surprise the Buddha answered: ‘I cannot help you.’
‘What do you mean?’ Asked the man.
‘Everyone has problems,’ answered the Buddha. ‘We all have eighty-three problems. Eighty-three problems about which we cannot change a thing. If you really work hard at it you might be able to solve one of them, but as soon as it dissapears, another one will take it’s place immediately. For example, all people whom you love will someday disappear form your life. And when your times comes, you will die as well. This is a problem, and you , nor anone else can do anything about it. That includes me.’
The man became furious. ‘And I thought you were such a great teacher!’ he cried. ‘I thought you would be able to help me! What use is such a lord to us?’
The Buddha answered: ‘Perhaps he is useful for solving the eighty-fourth problem.’
'The eighty-fourth-problem? cried the man, surprised. ‘What is the eighty fourth problem?’
Buddha answered: ‘That you desire to live without problems’.
The Buddha’s reply can be severely misinterpreted. He does not mean that a problem is desiring to be free from problems. Instead, he means the problem is desiring anything. Once you no longer desire, then you no longer have problems. Well, that is my interpretation.
i know that I have read this passage before. I am guessing it is from the lotus sutra.
Free from desire is a quote from most philosophers.
Lao Tzu, Tao te ching, do not think then you are problem free.
But I know this does not work in another sense, why?
Call now, and as a special bonus, we’ll have send you, free of charge, problems forever.
If you decide you don’t want to keep the ILP-o-matic, keep, as our gift to you for trying the ILP-o-matic, the problems forever.
That’s how to have problems free forever.
cheers,
gemty
would you really want to live without problems? utopia gets boring pretty fast
dan,
Why would people want free problems? Aren’t people trying to get away from problems (excluding some masochists)? Am I missing something here?
Oh, you are not here espousing a problem free paradigm, are you?
If so, then I recommend you charge a premium on problems. No buyers, no problems.
Or, you could just not acknowledge them (the problems) -I would imagine this to be a mental specialist’s dream. Of course you might end up in jail with a boyfriend named Bubba, but since you’re not acknowledging this as a problem, problem solved.
whats the number?
where is utopia as it seems you have been there
I don’t understand your question or is it you do not understand my question?
A problem-free life would most likely be a life of stasis.
Example:
I am frozen in a pod for 40+ years, not one problem.
But also we must realize that “problem” is a subjective term, founded upon desire. If I did not want to succeed, then my failure would not be a problem. Desire is optional.
Problems start as unfulfilled desires, and end as unfulfilled desires.
down the rabit hole
mayb the problem is that your frozen in a pod for 40+ years?
Dan,
the number is 1-872-343-7204.
I agree with Buddha on this one. Not all problems can be solved. Situations and circumstances could always be more favorable than they are. Problems act as a test of character. I think it’s how we go about solving them that helps define who we are.
