How to judge others

To judge with full justice, one ought to understand the cause and effect. To help a starving person simply because he is starving is not just. for all is seen is the effect of starvation and not the cause of it. the cause of starvation might be his honesty which is abused by others, or his laziness. the first instance deserves help and not the second.

We ought to judge based on character and not the effect. so it is not just to help a starving African child but to help him after a detailed examination of his character.

The people around me, including my family, believe the opposite: Laziness is…well, understandable, but if you’re honest, then you deserve to be abused and starved. Honesty is a luxury that only the rich can afford. To get by, unless you’re rich, you need to lie. So, if you indulged in being honest, which we all would like to indulge in because it’s easier but we don’t allow ourselves because we can’t afford it, then it’s your fault that you’re starving.

but I favor honesty, and hate lies. so I only help the honest people. but being honest does not mean not lying to liars. but to be honest to other honest people.
