Sure, i disagree with him on most every salient political issue, but given the serious likelihood that the next president will be a Republican, backed by a Republican House and Senate, and given the likelihood that said Republican president may very well end up being named Trump or Cruz, i am grateful that there will be a prominent all-star Republican - who is also nonetheless brilliant, charismatic and eminently rational - keeping the party in check.

Hillary is slipping fast in the polls, so it’s looking to be Sanders Vs Trump. Which is weird as fuck, but way, way better than a cruel, thoughtless warmonger like Hillary becoming president.
When it comes down to Sanders and Trump, really… who knows, America lost either way… hopefully it will be a rather forgettable 4-8 years, cleaning up the aweful mess of the previous president. I am not especially impressed with Ryan right now, what has he done to win you over?
it is a “free” country. I can tell the waiter I want either a shit sandwich, or piss soup, and I have a 50/50 chance of getting either. I am also allowed to write on the menu and order whatever I want, but the waiter gives me a zero percent chance of getting it. Freedom sure tastes good.

i still think Rubio can pull it out. i hated Ryan when he was VP candidate, but nowadays relative to the rest of the prominent Republicans and their possible nominees, he actually looks like a reasonable person.
Why? I honestly don’t get why you think Ryan rehabilitated? What did he do that was suddenly so swell? Can others capitalize on it?

Cruz is a closet Canadian, you let him in, and the British Empire will sneak in through the Backdoor and overthrow use, we will all have muskets pointed at us one morning upon waking up, with God Save The Queen being played on MTV… no, we can’t have Cruz… Cruz = Canada.
Every time we have a president not born in the US, a war breaks out. Revolutionary War, Whiskey Rebellion under Washington, Tunesia campaign under Adams and Jefferson, Libya under Obama… nope, no more, just American born presidents from now on, we’ve learned our lesson. Unless your born under our flag, you don’t get to be president.
Paul Ryan thinks you can earn a yacht and that if you can’t manage to earn something to eat that you should starve.
Ever since the way too early start of this election cycle, a lot of the GOP party elite have renewed their infatuation with Ryan as well. They practically begged him to take on the Speakership. At least in the way he handles himself in debate and media appearances, he seems pretty reasonable. But he’s also not on the campaign trail anymore.
Also, Bernie may be leading Hillary ever so slightly in the polls for a few states, but she is considerably ahead nationally. If Bernie can turn a few more demographics his way (African Americans, Latinos) and can inspire good voter turnout, he may have a shot. On the Republican side, after everything that’s happened, Trump still leads by a decent margin. So as far as I’m concerned, anything can happen on that side.

Oh, he’s certainly not rehabilitated, i mean, don’t get me wrong, i am not enthused by the guy (though he IS handsome, and says all the right things).
The candidates for nominee could certainly take a few tips from the tone of his rhetoric, which contrasts pretty sharply with their own.
That’s a guideline which makes no difference in practice. But yeah, i would never trust America in the hands of a Canuck either.
