Maybe not permanently, but I’m probably not gonna be here for a while. I’ve already reduced the degree to which I post, but this place is starting to get on my nerves. Philosophy, at least to me, is about debate. The rational investigation of larger matters, things science can find no evidence to support or debunk. Things like love, god, or ethics. But when the forum intended to foster this rational discussion is overwhelmed with a deluge of posters who all hate religion, or all hate homosexuality, or all hate one side of the political spectrum, this is no longer about philosophy as much as it is about ranting and raving. I’m sick of it.
I wish this forum the best and hope it finds its aim again. Goodbye.
iv only been on this for about 1-2 weeks and im beginning to feel like you, its like everyone is just trying to get there voice out there and isnt listening, there is a reason god gave us 2 ears and only 1 mouth…everyone in this world is too close minded because they are too worried about being “right”.
I hope it’s not my fault. I just like to get people arguing ay way that I can. I totally voted for Gore the 1st time and my best friend is a lesbien and I’ve been arguing the God side on religion for the last few days. Matthatter that was me that started that poll. I’ll be nicer. I try to keep it in the mundane babble section at least.
ummm no, im very open minded, i dont just argue my point, im an active listener i listen to your statement consider it than make an evaluation in my own perspective. and i didnt freaking post asking poeple anything other than my opinion, i didnt create that!

and if your saying its because i said something and didnt want to argue about it its because like the original topic, its like they just want to argue and rant other than actually depict the subject and hold a non buyest outsider opinion . They get emotional and just start trying to MAKE you believe them instead of listeing and actually think about what your saying thay just attack whatever you say.

If thats the post your talking about how i said i hate democrats, your taking my words out of perspective, i dont neccessarily Hate “them” , and what i mean by that is if someone says there a democrat i dont just assume anything and start hating them, i just hate alot of the views they have and alot of the laws they try to pass. Its all a result to illegal aliens that leads me to my emotional connection to this subject. i live in southern califonia, im only 45 minutes from the border, and ill tell you there just invading our country and no one is doing anything about it, and the worst part is that the democrats support it, they want them to come. so yes, when it comes to this one topic, i have generated alot of hate.for my country, and for my represenatives, and for democRATZ who want to make illegals…“legal”, and that mean there allowed to use our hospitals, schools, grocier stores, and not pay taxes or anything into the system and take everything out, can you understand? Saying “ummmm” doesn’t prove your point, it just makes you look foolish. We are writing here, not talking.
Obviously you have witnessed situations in which someone said “ummmm” when they were confused about someone’s argument (thinking “how could this guy actually think this?”) and now you think that “ummmm” is a way of displaying superiority, and making the other person appear like they make no sense.

Thought about swinging by a couple hours later just to read the replies I stirred up… and I was surprised to find out I was banned. I don’t feel banned. How odd.
I can surmise why social sciences, mundane babble, and the rant house have descended into forums for expressing hate, and sweeping illogical attacks, but last time I got into the middle of it, the chief offender, who happens to be a moderator, got me banned.
Since then, this forum is a different for me, it is no longer a place to discuss ideas, it is a place where ignorant attacks and broadsweeping accusations are fostered and reinforced.
As far as I can see, you have not been banned. This is probably why you feel like you haven’t. It’s possible someoneisatthedoor is smoking some kind of potent crack.

It’s true that you didn’t directly refer to me when you said it, and it did remain ambiguous. However, I was one of the two people who were arguing with each other, so it was a fair assumption on my part.
