well the right in america is taking all of the money out of the govt, and then continuing to say, not only that it will continue to build the programs we love, like education and health care, but that it succesfully fulfilled its previous promises by “raising test scores” and having 30,000 employees of some kind. if they want to come out and say that all of those things should be destroyed, they should actually come out and say it, instead of shadily it doing it behind our backs.
what somebody should have screamed is that he cut 12billion or so from the education budget (among many other cuts for programs for the non-rich), and 85%+ of the tax cuts that caused him to do so went to the top 40% (at least, im almost positive it was worse). and then those same stupid fucks who just got screwed by him are the same ones who vote for him.
honestly, i think its a conspiracy. there is only one right wing party and the democrats are the patsies who are falsely protrayed as the ones who are the left. the leftist things they want to accomplish are crappy if they even exist, they arent far enough to the left, and they are always the ones who have to raise taxes and always the ones who dont get to use the religion card or even the war card.
its all a huge sham, we live in a fascist dictatorship with occasional spurts of democracy thrown in to keep us from realizing it.
on cnn, apparently the most left of the liberal media conspiracy, they were talking about the deficit and ‘earmarking’/porkbarrel/using government money to pay for things that specific legislators want for their home districts (which sounds like the way its supposed to work if you ask me).
well, im sure this pork is a huge problem as selfish animals are literally allowed to take money from people for whom they will be obtaining tax money, but the thing that i think is a much bigger problem for the budget is the supply side tax cuts. i mean if you are going to specifically talk about the current budget deficits and their cause, at least mention the tax cuts and why the republicans want those tax cuts so much.
but no. in what is referred to as The Truth Zone, there was no mention of the tax cuts in reference to the budget deficits, no mention of the long dead phrase ‘trickle down effect’. why not? is it because america would get totally pissed off if they knew that most of the tax cuts went to people who already had a ton of money?
if the efficacy of supply side economics is so obviously great that the republicans feel the need to implement it every single time they get in power, why doesnt bush explain it in his state of the union? sure he mentioned that the economy is growing, but he made no connection between that and supply side cuts. i think if he told us the exact numbers of the distribution in a speech, his popularity would be slammed. thats the only reason why he doesnt say the tax cuts go to the rich.
so its clear that the state of the union is a pep rally, not actually a place where the president says actual stuff that the americans ought to learn about. so they should call it a pep rally. the democrats should wear blue and paint their faces and bush should have pom poms. resolve yeah! is our children learning? despite my decisions to not pay for what i said i would, yeah!
i cant believe nobody has thrown stuff at him. he is good at being a cheerleader though. the words that explain absolutely nothing, make no decisive stand on any controversial issue, impart no information, they do usually sound pretty. the embarassment i feel for being a part of a society who trusts him prevents me from really appreciating it though.
siatd i totally dont know on what youd base your apparent belief that we ought to not have an ideally altruistic govt in control of our pooled resources. i mean, the fact that they are corrupt is a reason to force them to not be corrupt, not to take back our money. unless we want to just give up on the whole society thing and form our own individual militaries to kill the poor workers when they band together to rob and destroy us.
i need to stop wasting so much time here. good thing im at work.
