Well, that’s the impression it’s designed to give. They do it basically by creating dissonance. Compositionally, though, it’s not complicated.
I’ll have to wholeheartedly disagree… it doesn’t even come close to what dubstep epitomises.
Excellent.

The best song by deadmau5 is one that has absolutely nothing to do with his general style. It’s a song about maintaining hope in the face of extreme uncertainty and it has only around 60,000 views on YouTube.

What were the what were the skies like when you were young?
They went on forever… the… when I wa… we lived in Arizona, and the skies always had little fluffy clouds in em and uh… they were long, and clear, and there were lots of stars at noight.
And uh, when it would rain it would all turn… it, they were beautiful, the most beautiful skies as a matter of fact. Uh, the sunsets were… purple and red and yellow and on fire and the clouds would catch the colors everywhere.
That’s…et, neat 'cause I used to look at them all the time when I was little. You don’t see that.
For a guy who hates electronic music, this is pretty damn good choice. I’m impressed.

in the pines… IN THE PIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINES
I knew I had heard a bluegrass version, but I couldn’t remember who, so I went into a youtube rabbit hole, so that’s why.
It was Ralph. The quality studio version isn’t on the youtube though.
Fuck it, more Ralph.
The song sounds kinda the same anyway:
