ILovePhilosophy.com Discussion Forums ranks #1

I have been on close to 290 online forums over the past decade.

Out of those forums, the only forum that has consistently shown freedom of discussion is:

ILovePhilosophy.com Discussion Forums.

Really ILovePhilosophy.com Discussion Forums not only ranks first, they are the ‘one and only forum’ out of the 290 forums that do not sensor thought through personal prejudice of the management.

My thanks and congratulations go out to the founders and moderators of this forum for making it what it is…#1!

thank you

VFR, I used to be on the YZF forum and those guys are not cool about smoking weed. They’ll try to ban you just for joking about it.

I wish I could say this has also been my experience, that I am being allowed freedom of speech. It has not. Someone has moved one of my posts without my permission. My protests are being ignored. This is not the way I would treat non-threatening, worthwhile posters on my board.

bis bald,

Nick

which post and where is it?

-Imp

It wouldn’t be hard for you to do a little research and find out what I am talking about. Perhaps you are not interested.

I have posted “Alice in Objectivist Land, parts one through eight,” here on the philosophy forum. Part number seven has been moved to the Creative Writing forum while the rest remain here. This disrupts the continuity of the series.

I came here to find people who love philosophy and would discuss and debate it with me. I did not come here to see my posts disappear and get moved around at some forum policeman’s whim. I hope this will be made right, and I can continue with the series and post number nine and ten.

bis bald,

Nick

I would concur that ilovephilosophy.com is pretty good with free-speech, I’ve been banned from forums twenty or so times, and have had no problems here.

Thanks,
Ari

My bad, Nick. Imp moved it back for you. Sorry!

it has been returned to its original position…

Never been banned from any forum. Am I missing out on something?

Ierellus,

You’re just not trying hard enough. [-X You need to be filled with self-righteous angst and with superior intellect, rebel against the system. Any system will do. Just complain loudly about all of the injustices the world has piled on you, make copious references to all those below your obvious brilliance, and make sure that everyone near and far knows that you’re a “free thinker”. That ought to do it. :unamused:

sour twisty rockets?

So close… And yet.

Sour fruits and furnishings?

That’s a pretty damning picture of ILP…

 1. There’s nothing like a nice pint of English ___________ of an evening.

 2. “Oops, I think I’ve ___________ my ankle…!” Exclaimed the clumsy heroine as the killer approached. “You silly mare !” Said barry, “Have you sprained it…?” - “No, you flippin’ eejut - I just said I _________ it didn’t I…?”

= Common phrase to describe (with a fair degree of cheeked tongue) Tentative’s reply to Ierrellus

See what I mean Ierellus? Them furriners can’t sprik a word of engrish. But we obviously superior intellects ignore their plaintive scratchiness and then puzzle why we aren’t banned - or why we are.

A tip: Change your screen name to IRE-ellus. It suggests you are pissed at the world and deserving of a ban.

Ad hominems. warning–these ads do not appear in your local newspaper. They appear in Robert Byrne’s “The 2,548 Best Things Anybody Said”.
“Plato is a bore”–Nietzsche
“Nietzsche was stupid and immoral.”–Tolstoy
“I’m not going to climb into the ring with Tolstoy.”–Hemingway.
“Hemingway was a jerk.”–Robbins.
And there’s more.
When I get ad hominems, I remember Cyrano De Bergerac’s comments on such. If you’re going to attack me, at least be articulate and clever. Stupidity is its own reward. Consequently, I don’t report ad hominems.
The more is Auden on certain philosphers and Blake on others, if you’re interested.

Move a post…nonsense.

That is nothing to get upset about NickOtani.

That is not censorship…that is organization.

Sometime we imagine discrimination when there is none

Even ILP has to have a few rules.

If your writing a series of manuscripts send them over to the thesis section.

I was told that myself recently.

My response?

If the mod’s want to move my posts…then move em.

I am not hard to get along with.

I am grateful that such an open forum as ILP even exists.

You don’t know what censorship is my friend, as you do not seem to appreciate what you have here.

For my reply on censorship See:

“Let me make this perfectly clear”. said Richard Nixon.
I’ve found ILP to be a great forum often devoid of great contributors. My ad hominem sarcasm comes from the fact that it’s the easist way to get banned from a forum, yet most major philosophers used it. I’d post that on the other 289.
Looking at the Alice writings with all due respect, I find them to be more literary than philosophical. But it’s not my place to make such a distinction.
