Any other insomniacs out there?? Here I sit again…currently 3:16 AM, sleep is not yet in sight. Three hours of sleep last night, and still not able to fall asleep tonight.
I hate NOTHING more than being an insomniac.

Im really starting to like this guy.
I have been looking into buying this for a few days now. It is a mask that when worn lowers your brain-wave frequencies and puts you to sleep in no time.
Another way is to put the PBS channel on and fall asleep. Gauranteed that channel will bore you to a sound sleep.
Or lay in bed and write a movie in your head sort of like planning a dream. Picture everything and get into doing it. You will fall asleep while doing this, well generally. It does send me off quicker. It helps control your thoughts, lets your mind shut down slowly and more deeply. Your favorite radio station playing helps here too if its not too loud. It gives your mind a white noise background and lets it just toodle along obeying your wish.
Its interesting really, yesterday I managed to fall asleep accidentally while watching pirates of the carribean, but when I am in bed trying to fall asleep theres no chance.
The movie idea sounds interesting and I will try it, however my mind will probably drift to something else as it is beyond my control when I am trying to get to sleep.
But ,that is just it, you are not trying to fall asleep, put that thought aside and forget it. Concentrate on creating. Not sleeping. Your mind will roll over into sleep naturally, You lose track of time you will go under slowly.
you could try melatonin. it’s natural and really effective.
I’ve heard and it seems true to me that engaging with electronics (i.e. computer or tv) too close in time to when you would naturally sleep is a problem. If you think midnight seems a reasonable sleep time you might try no electronics for a couple hours beforehand.
A certain amount of light exposure to your eyes during hours where you should be sleeping reduce melatonin levels in your body, so yes that would make sense.
I have tried taking melatonin, as well as lunesta, tylenol PM, L-tryptophan, ambien CR, nyquil…nothing like that works for me. However the tryptophan seems to be eliminating my depression, which is truly a strange yet amazing feeling as I have only been trying tryptophan for a couple days now. Its my wondering mind thats keeping me awake, I am confident in that now.
9:30 AM…time for bed!
I assume it is a serious issue? You feel exhausted all the time or something? What does the lack of sleep do to you?
I do tend to feel lethargic during the day because I am a very inactive person, although I am hoping to change that. The lack of sleep basically does the following:
I hope it isn’t a major problem, but I don’t think it is. I think I get it because I smoke, don’t get out much, and spend quite a lot of time on the computer. The insomnia isn’t always to this extent…normally I just have to lay in bed for about an hour before getting to sleep, but I still get to sleep. It just got bad for the past couple days, but I think I may have another reason. For a while up until now I would smoke weed just before going to bed. For the last few days I haven’t been doing that, nor smoking pot at all for that matter.
Your theories and self-prescription sound pretty reasonable to me.
Hey fellow insomniacs! See you on the forum at some unGodly hour tomorrow morning
I’m always totally wired, and don’t even bother go to bed unless I’m dropping: usually around 3/4/5 in the a.m.
Unfortunately I don’t believe our ungodly hours overlap.
Insomnia is a lonely affliction.
Have you thought about seeing a sleep therapist? Sounds like the only thing you haven’t done.
I don’t believe in therapists, I just refuse to see them. Ignorant I guess but I can’t help it. I ordered this sleep mask that I mentioned earlier just now, and if it works I will be one happy mofo.
I simply can NOT fall asleep no matter how hard I try unless I am tired to the point where I can’t keep my eyes open. Consider yourself extremely lucky.
The worst part is, I don’t have a tolerance for it. I feel absolutely horrible when I don’t sleep like that, but I can do nothing.
