We need a place to put the internet stuff. Stuff like videos, documentaries etc etc. Internet stuff.

Well, a problem with that is limitations on server space. Text and pictures are manageable, but when we start uploading videos, we could potentially fill up pretty quickly. If we’re dealing with feature-length documentaries, we’re talking total space of the server only holding 40-80, which isn’t including other software and content.
One thing I can look into is the possibility of embedding video hosted on other sites in posts. I don’t know if that’s possible, but I can look at the forum software to see.
As for a “place”, what are you looking for? Just a place to store them, or a specific forum for discussing them? I think the latter alreeady exists, in that many people post links to videos in the appropriate forums (e.g. posting political documentaries in Social Sciences), and there’s always The Review for more direct discussion of a video (as opposed to the ideas it presents), and Visual Arts for your own works or more ‘artistic’ videos. What did you have in mind?
Well what I had in mind was a lot more basic. And that would be to simply post links to whatever video content you may come across, but instead of the odd thread here and there which is bound to get lost sooner or later maybe some kind of sticky thread in each forum? But you wouldn’t want it to get too messy, you’d need some kind of categorization system or some other means of looking for specific subjects, something like tags but then you’d need a way of searching tags…but I may be getting carried away there, it doesn’t seem like videos have been popular around here before so it might not take off.
The tagging idea is good, but it would take a lot to implement. I’d basically have to find some kind of content management software and add that, because as far as I know phpBB doesn’t support tags (I can double check that).
Another thing to consider is the archive-type posts that exist in some forums already. They don’t seem particularly useful, at least not compared to, say, google. Without an easy reference scheme such as you suggest, the threads don’t seem worth it.

I don’t think so, the video isn’t hosted on ILP, so I think once the page loads the drag on bandwidth will be nil. It’s only embedding, not actually storing video here. The video still plays through Youtube or Google Video.
