Does anyone know if there is a specific meaning behind Salvador Dali’s painting Paysage aux Papillons ? I’ve been wondering this for a while now…but I’ve had trouble finding the interpretation or meaning online. There may not even be a specific meaning behind the work, but I wish I could know what he was thinking when he created it…of course he was considered to be slightly eccentric.
he was thinking “oh boy, if I smear enough paint on this canvas I’ll have people wondering about the hidden meaning behind the painting…”
whatever meaning there is behind anythng, you have to “find” (place) it or it is meaningless…

I know everyone can have their own interpretation of a painting, but I just want to know if he had his own, original meaning behind it or if there is a well known interpretation often used. He may not have been thinking anything.
Litterature tends to lend a hand in interpreting many works, I don’t know if there’s a certain book in your country used in association with such things as in my country, but of course it might be easier to address the wise people of this forum concerning Dali.
Also consider the fact that perhaps the thoughts behind the picture is too massive, dense and broad that it would take too much time and too many words to describe and interpret for you.
If I stumble upon a site which might help you, I’ll return and lend a hand.
