Is bad spelling/ grammar a sign of low intelligence
people keep harping on colin leslie deans bad spelling and grammar to imply he is not very intelligent
but
he has proven the greatest mathematician of the 20th century made an invalid proof
which would indicate bad spelling/ grammar is not a sign of low intelligence
Simple answer is its not. Dyslexia is now widley understood. Though people of a low IQ normally have a reflectivly bad spelling age. People of a high IQ can also suffer this.
Bad spelling and grammar in itself does not show low intelligence. But, failure to recognize your weakness in the area and then have someone proofread it or even just run it through a spell check yourself is a sign of low intelligence, especially when you’re trying to make a sophisticated point.
Not to mention it detracts from what you’re saying.
Read the other thread, this is essentially a repost.
i would say that failure to recognize weakness in an area is a sign of low intelligence. but i’m sure this person (i don’t know who he is aside from the math reference) is aware of his grammatical ineptitudes and simply does not care.
when i say " one plus one is twfo " does it change the meaning of the assertion because of a misspelled word?
only in a very rare case will a grammatical error result in a change of meaning that is not obvious.
its like a genius skimming through the ads in a newspaper and reading only that which matters.
if anything a lack of grammatical care is indicative of : laziness, haste or perhaps they simply have bigger fish to fry than grammar issues.
oh and we cannot forget lack of respect for the reader… musn’t forget that
Because he refers to himself in the third person.
Not spamming with repititive new threads would also be an indication of an increase in his intelligence.
