In most successful cultural outings it still is. Take rap, where almost everyone is black and happily proud to be, even having a racial monopoly on the word they identify with. Good for them. And look at someone like Dave Chapelle, a very healthy comedian relishing in his racial identity. Or the very happy and successful Katt Williams, who proudly proclaims he is superior because he is black. All that is perfectly fine. Most successful long form tv shows are almost all-white. Notable exception is the Wire, where racial identity is very important and celebrated. Where the show being set up as a social critique of government (initially starring a black mayor of Baltimore), it relies on celebrating ethnic identities. I think thats a good key, moving from negative to positive races, or racialism.
