For me, Philosophical Certainty has more to do with hope than truth.
I hope for the truth, of that I am certain.

Ah, I understand Membrian. When you said you could whip up a philosophy I thought you meant use one that you can whip up a philosophical defense for, not just provide an examine of another philosopher’s conclusion.
My mistake.
It was a problem of me interpretting “validate” as your own opinion of that philosophy truly being valid (which is why I expected you to validate it).
Cool.
But to press on…
Aren’t there any established philosophers who validate “certainty” in beliefs? For one, it seems more absurd to proffer that we walk around in a state of “uncertainty”.
I would liken it to the mental energy that it takes to move your arm: you can “think” about moving your arm without it really moving. This I compare to “uncertainty” which is “a state of not doing”. The kind of “thought” that actually causes your arm to move I compare to “certainty”. You can’t move your arm unless you cross a threshold between uncertainty and certainty, the most important of the two being certainty since that is the state that results in actions.
But rather than me having to validate this, hasn’t some other respected philosopher already done it? It’s hard for me to believe that it hasn’t been done before.
Can any well-read student provide a name?
thats what 2500+ years of philosophy has shown us. wisdom isnt perfect enough to be used. awesome. im glad you spent all that time reading (stuff) on how to live just so you could be told that people arent really omniscient in the first place. what a profound revelation. im glad that discourages all practicality and purpose of philosophy.
I couldn’t agree more with the idea that many of philosophy’s practitioners seem to be lost in esoteric conundrums, validating their own educations, and less interested in developing ideas that are constructive, relevant, practical, pragmatic, and utilitarian.
The “2500+ years” puts it in perspective. We’ve had all this time and we seem to rarely do something useful. So I share your disappointment.

no personal insults about other posters please…

more or less:Otherwise I don’t see why anyone would attack someone who clearly does not even know what philosophy is.
you can at least be objective when dishing out criticism.

o man disapointment is an understatement for me.
as far as im concerned we learn philosophy to better cement ourselves in our own reclusive bubbles.
