Consciousness is an evolutionary adaptation. I don’t need to point out the obvious benefits of being conscious(I.E be able to plan ahead). Of course this does not say anything against determinism. This is a fact.

So, are human beings merely on auto-pilot, even though they “think” that they’re aware?

any human was pre-destined to grow physically(from child to adult) like any other animal. we are pre-destined to think, and in turn , grow mentally.
beyond that our actions are only limited by physics/biology, judicial law, and economics. our only needs are food and water and air.

once this is all taken into account, we are free to do what we want.
isn’t freedom great?

before people go throwing the term Free Will arround should we have a consensus as to what the will is itself? and in turn what we mean by free?
