Found this pretty interesting, Israel now is building underground fortifications beyong the above ground walls. Many countries, such as the US, the EU, and several European countries independently have similar above ground walls. Is this the direction most major countries will turn to in the future?
how can one build tunnels without that being detectible? in other words the Israelis need to invest in tech [they don’t already have?] and not to mention - people!
It is very, very, very simple to detect the tunnels, that tech is ancient. People in the medieval era used buckets with water… if it rippled repeatedly, you could tell they are digging a mine. Likewise, I recall the Knights of Rhodes used a drum that was so tight it would vibrate.
All you need to do is lay out PVC piping along the walls, and send weighted string through it. At every junction, a seismograph point, to register any slight periodic movements.
You can also run ground penetrating under a golf cart moving slowly. Not expensive.
I’m not opposed to the underground walls… support the above ground walls, just surprised they want to go that extra length. Egypt literally built a moat on it’s fortifications facting Gaza… on the inside of the wall to flood anyone digging from Gaza into Egypt… and a half mile (might be a half kilometer) from that no construction is allowed, and they regularly check for breathing holes.
I think just using the medieval approach is way cheaper and more effective, you just gotta counter mine it once you spot it.
The wall between San Diego and California (note the Democrats scream about building a Mexican wall along the Republican stretches but insist on having it in Democratic areas) is three walls thick, stops 95% of all break in attempts. People still mine under it though… I honestly don’t understand why they don’t set up stupid simple and cheap vibration detecting tools… they are a very old yet effective concept.

Israel doesn’t qualify as a apartheid state, if the Bay Area of San Francisci, Seattle, and Portland areas do not. It is far better integrated minority wise, less violence, generally more tolerant of religious differences than west coast USA.
Honestly, stats just suck here compared to Israel in many areas. Something our left doesn’t get when it gets into running its mouth.
Plus, I assure you, we got far more gated communities and security running loose in our parts than Israel has soldiers and walls. Don’t tell me you never saw a gated community and rent-a-cops prowling, or noticed the races rarely mixed during your time on the west coast.
