Jesus was a performative artist.

Jesus is a difficult spirit to protect in a human body. That’s not my idea of godhood.

Different thread.

Yes, the varying use of the words Magi, Magus or Magician does tend to show a bias in the portrayal. The association with sages or astrologers or even alchemists seems appropriate, but I also see in his teaching a practical demonstration of application. I also think that for all his integration of external wisdom, he saw the time as ripe for an awakening.

Yes… there was long debate about what to do with the preacher-man Jesus, before they finally settled on their decision to crucify him. He was given many ‘cease and desist’ orders, but seemed compelled on his mission to convert the minds that he came across to his way of thinking and seeing theologically.

In today’s current climes, he could simply start his own religion… :woman_shrugging:

Today is Easter. According to the Gospel of John, Jesus said "I am the resurrection and the life. Notice that here he did not say that he would resurrect, he said "I am the resurrection. And he went on saying whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. He also said “Before Abraham was, I am.” Think about it. In the Gospel of John we have a Gnostic text right in the orthodox New Testament canon. Gnosis is the Koine Greek equivalent of what the Vedantist call jnana in Sanskrit.

Easter tidings Felix/one and All…

Thank you.

I don’t celebrate holidays. Holy days.

They are archaic for old souls.

I’m not scrooge.

They just mean nothing to me.

What I try to explain to people is that everyday is a holiday. And none of them are.

Humans are really hard to talk to.

.

Yes, Catholic [Christian] holidays are derived from Norse/Germanic pagan holidays… Catholic school history-classes don’t lie about that.

.
So that they could practice their pagan rituals, in the guise of?

Mag. The coolest people are people who use lights all year instead of taking them down.

Why compartmentalize beauty?

Jesus’ incarnation, death, and resurrection was a communication of unchanging love, the language for which was taught by the Law & the Prophets.

Puritanical Christianity finds such practices idolatrous, but I find it compatible with the Christian platonism that informs catholicism.

Sarvapriyananda is a master of Jnana Yoga.

I haven’t been well enough to contribute for the last week, but I am back on my feet now.

As you know, I straddle Christianity and Vedanta and lean towards spiritual naturalism, in which the deities are founded on natural phenomena and unworldly principles. The question then becomes what is primary, and as I believe consciousness to be primary, it could be quite possible that the natural phenomena and associated deities are expressions of Brahman.

We see how this is also intimated in El’s pantheon, "the multitudes of heaven” (Genesis 32:1, Joshua 5:14, Kings 22:19, Nehemia 9:6, etc.). I’m sure that the OT draws from other traditions and rewrites them for its own narrative, which also explains the discernible differences in sources.

In the same way, Jesus is a figure who embodies syncretism but also interprets the messianic prophecy as the beginning of a new age, heralding the end of the world. The resurrection that Easter celebrates is more of a cry of liberation, stating that the movement that Jesus began will not be destroyed and that his spirit is amongst the survivors as though he were among them.

Humanity seems caught up in a dichotomy of intention between the sage and the warrior, with the warrior being the physically dominant force while the sage administers wisdom. This can also be seen in the symbolism of Tai Jitu and the male-female distinction. Until these two become one, humanity will suffer under the warrior, and the less he hears the sage, the worse it becomes. The political landscape seems to reject, even hate, the sage. Any humane compassion is met with an inappropriate militancy.

Humanity’s principal problem is that we have forgotten who we are. Jesus remembered. When we remember, we become a servant to all. We serve in freedom out of love.

Catholicism says that Puritanical Christianity finding such practices idolatrous is not their problem Felix, and that they don’t care what you find compatible or not… for Catholicism is what it is.

¿…hasn’t Puritanical Christianity had its own problems to deal with…?

Dakat,

He didn’t remember … he always knew. That’s why he was 12 in the temple teaching and asked his bewildered, frantic parents how they did not expect him to be in his Father’s house. I don’t know why that particular example stands out when there are so many others.

(Bob, glad you’re feeling better.)

Ichthus. If you really want to know?

Jesus looks up to everyone as his mentor.

Especially me.

Jesus has walked through many hell realms with me.

He was my mentor as well.

It all worked out well in the end.

The problem was solved.

Of course. My point was that they don’t see God immanent in everything. To the Christian Platonist, Christ is the reality of everything. I wasn’t offering a defense of Puritanism. By failing to see the divine in everything, they close themselves to beauty.
