Kant and Hegel; Time and Space

Hello all,

My post concerns a commonality I have observed between Immanuel Kant (in the Critique of Pure Reason, primarily) and the inimitable GWF Hegel (in the Phenomenology) during my first time reading the latter and was wondering if anyone here would care to comment on this and discuss it with me.
In the section concerning CSNS’ first stage of sense-certainty, Hegel speaks of the CSNS distinguishing individuality by way of “here” and “now.” These two…er, a priori intuitions (apologies for the Kantian reference) serve as the building blocks in the evolution of conciousness. Similarily, in Kant’s section concerning the two a priori modes of intuition, he establishes time and space as the fundamental structure that is necessary for the transcendental, what we call experience to occur (through the SUA, 12 modes of understanding, and the two formerly mentioned space and time intuitions). As yet, I appear to only have discovered this base link between the two and I wish to discuss the implications of this observation. I have not had any success finding anything on JSTOR or any other sites similar to that. It is yet to be determined whether this post ends in philosophy or mere sophistry , so what say you fellow students of philosophy? I appreciate anyone’s time and effort spent reading this and replying.

Good day,

Paul

What they said seems like metaphorical nonsens, therefore irrelevant.

Welcome to ILP!

I haven’t read the source text, but Hegel very much built on Kant’s work and methodology (as did Schopenhauer) - Kant’s effect was enormous. What is it exactly that you’re proposing, though?

Metaphysical, not metaphorical. But your assessment may nonetheless be correct :stuck_out_tongue:

But metaphysics usually seems expressed in excessive metaphors, but i’m probaly just seeings things.

IK & GWFH are PSM’s (philosophical soul mates) to be sure. Perhaps you can find some clues in the SEP, the IEP (which will not explode) or the HSA. GL with that. Sorry I can’t BoH. OMG, IBALT since IHRH.

AARRR!!! AAAAAARRRR!!! Abbrevation overload!! …/runs away screaming!
