Mikhail Bakunin would always criticize Karl Marx saying that the state and all forms of government need to be destroyed forever for humanity to truly ever be free. Karl Marx would disagree and say that revolution requires the usurping of the old political guard of the state in the formation of a radically new state that champions human freedom where along the way the dictatorship of the proletariat was necessary in transition.
Then there is Max Stirner with his sly grin and existential nihilism acknowledging that anarchy is pure chaos saying let the chips fall wherever they may be into the cataclysm of ruin giggling every time Bakunin mentions democratic anarchism knowing full well that humanity is far too egotistical for that to ever transpire of constantly warring fighting individuals.
Bakunin nags Marx about his political revolution turning into a new tyranny and Marx pounds his fist on the table talking about how Bakunin’s democratic anarchy being completely unrealistic dragging humanity into nihilistic chaos with Max Stirner nodding in the background smiling.
Marx vacillated between state ownership, calling it crude, unthinking, universal envy, and shirking any kind of final reconciliation for constant revolution/praxis.
State ownership is the best we can do in contrast to the growing menace of privatized corporate neo fuedalists who are only concerned with growing their own financial portfolios destroying anybody and everybody in the process of growth expansion.
In this regard for Marxists or communists state ownership and property is a necessary intrusion. Enforced shared or collective prosperity versus being ruled by tyrannical private individuals who view the majority of the populace as peasant slaves to be ruled by the whip.
There’s this rich dude that privately bought a bunch of rainforest so the loggers would stop stripping it bare of resources—protecting the indigenous folk from displacement. That’s the nuts right there.
