I was wondering if anybody saw the recent documentary they they have been showing on the Sci Fi channel the past few nights and what they thought about it.
I though that the makers of the documentary had their own personal agenda that had nothing to do with learning more about M. Night as a filmmaker. They seemed determined to indicate that M Night was weird, and probably had supernatural powers.
They began by concentrating on the secretive nature of M. Night and his film work. They took this secretive nature as evidence of something conspiratorial, or sinister. While they overlooked the fact that M. Night has had enormous success in making movies with a surprise twist ending. I would say that the audience’s ignorance of the twist ending is essential for the commercial and artistic success of M. Night.
They did pry into his life, treated him with little respect and I can see why M. Night would leave the project.
I think that M. Night wrote the damn thing and it was all rigged.
I can totally believe that the whole thing was rigged. The original Blair Witch project showed how effectively the documentary style of filmmaking could be used to make an intriguing hoax. I don’t know if M. Night actually wrote it himself, but I feel confident that he at least helped create it with this goal in mind for the final product.
