Separation of church and state? How bout separation of state and science?!?!?
“Although the schedule of controlled substances is a reasonable classification system in most cases, it is not entirely consistent with current scientific knowledge concerning the abuse liability and potential medicinal use of certain substances, particularly marijuana.â€
-Meyer, and Quenzer, Psychopharmacology: drugs, the brain, and behviour, 2005 pp196
“Marijuana, with its therapeutic potentials and public health consequences, warrants scientific scrutiny and the acquisition of objective information regarding all aspects of the substance itself and the cannabinoid system more generally—difficult as that may be, unencumbered by the burdens of sociopolitical pressures and biases.â€

Legalization, medicinal uses of THC, not to mention the lack of medical knowledge about both the substance and the cannabinol neurotransmitter system…Nothing aforementioned is political, why is it under political control. Marijuana is one of the most used drugs of abuse, and also the one with the most possible medicinal uses. It is outrageous the lack of research being done, and even more appalling is the quality of the research that is done; for example a study conducted in 1987 claimed that marijuana lowered sperm count. However, participants were given 10joints per day for 4 consecutive weeks (REDICULOUS). I myself believed this fact for quite some time…
My opinion is anybody telling you weed is good or bad is generalizing from a flawed and incomplete body of research. No matter what I want to be true, there is am urgent need for research on this substance and its mechanisms of action. The only thing that is definitive is that this ongoing debate is political, but science requires unbiased research and objective interpretation, something both the opponents and proponents of this movement are lacking.
what do you think? (add your place of residence in the response id like to know how geography effects your opinions on this…)
