Marketing

The following is my unoffical ‘best marketers’ list. It is based on company resources, creativity and effectivenss.

Hopefully it will spawn some discussion.

Sierra Mist - This offshoot of, I’m assuming coke a cola or pepsi, or perhaps even Heinz knows what’s going on. It’s not about the product, it’s about the image, and how you convey that. By utilizing the burnt out, yet funny actors of Mad TV the ‘It’s that refreshing’ campaign works suprisingly well in that the ‘that’ becomes correlated to humor, in which case the Mad TV is, admittedly far superior to the rest of the other commercials.

IBM - Yeah they managed Hitler’s concentration camp railways, but I gotta give it to them - they’re smart. Not really needing to dip into their massive pockets for known actors or theatrics the cleverly written ‘Innovations for profit’ put a lighthearted, and even philosophical spin on the otherwise evil corporate world.

Telus Mobility Not sure if the Americans get this one or not, but the Telus ads turn out the most influence for the buck in my mind. Utilizing nothing more than a while room and different animals the Telus marketing campaign showcases the increasingly sophisticated cell phones, all the while being surrounded or used by every day animals such as parrots, lizards, etc. They further reinforce the slogan that indeed, ‘the future is friendly’.

ok I got bored, but I’ll add some in the days to come, additionally I urge anyone else to contribute their own. I’m interested to see what other people see as ‘good’ commercials. Not in the sense that they are necessarily funny, rather which ones who think are actually effective at selling the product, given their situation.

the "oh I wish I was an … " song was/is effective as was plop plop fizz fizz…

and what are you not supposed to squeeze?
