The Andruid [android-druid]
This is going to happen ~ it is simply a matter of time!
Without going into too much detail when i was way younger, me and my mates done a lot of let us say; ‘chemical brain enhancement’. We were punks and not hippies so we didn’t think any magic was going on, and so thought of such activities as brain function. To cut to the chase, it became entirely possible to go into different levels of altered states, mostly at the conscious dreaming and ‘trip’ levels. The former being internal, the latter external hallucinations.
Ok, so knowing what is possible for the trained mind to do, i have to ask myself if this could be possible and indeed useful if achieved via a device of some kind. Firstly we are talking about deceiving the perception of sensory input, such that the brain creates a dream or other kind of false reality and this can be done chemically or via electromagnetic instrumentation* [i am sure most of you have seen videos of the god helmet].
Ultimately i feel that a blend of EM* Tech and more sophisticated devices working with quantum entanglement, will enable at least the same effects as chemicals on the brain, but be far more reliable and with greater utility. Once we have that Tech i feel it is plausible that e.g. my eyes don’t work as well as the HD TV i watch, so i could replace them with beautifully ‘sculpted’ artificial gemstone versions with all the tech built-in. I could also add zoom function and any other photographic/cinematic/night-vision effects. For ears, i could add a volume control and extra long range depth and similar effects. [JK; for ones penis maybe it could detect when women are ovulating 
].
How it will work; it requires a compatible to organic sensory device, which in terms of vision will create a 3D mesh of what it ‘sees’, and inform the optical cortex of what colours etc are required for the perception to read that as mimicking the external world. Thus via artificial ‘hallucination’ the blind may see, the deaf hear etc.
Back in the day we used to spend large chunks of the day tripping or conscious dreaming, which makes me wonder if i would not rather be doing it 24/7. That is in the context that at will one can manifest various ‘worlds’, one the same as we naturally see, then variations of enhancements or entirely different worlds/spaces. Not to mention that perceptions* [the consciousness and subconscious] can then also be communicated between! Though by my reasoning i feel that by simply taking the mind to such levels of consciousness, we may not require the extra communicative Tech, though i suppose it could be useful. My main worry would be in the manipulation of such Tech if interpersonal, and to what degree would this or anything above changes the human condition?
Welcome then my brethren to the world of the druids, maybe all humanity will be joining us. 
Or more seriously; perhaps it is better to have use of such Tech as required in the particular! Some people like me will want to be Andruids, but i expect most would not want it except for entertainment purposes or indeed medical replacement of organs ~ though that will probably be achieved simply by growing new organs or 3D printing them.

*as i see it, there is ‘the’ perception i.e. as in the singular and universal. One of its qualities, perhaps the most fundamental, is its ability to replicate itself. Ours and all of nature’s perceptions are at a tangent to the primary perception, as in we are one of its replications. Duplication occurs wherever there is created or manifest the required instrumentation. It is my understanding via observation, that it is possible to become detached from one’s own perceptive exponent [said tangent/duplication], this necessarily so given that the primary ontology here [that of perceptions self-duplication] is correct, or pertains in the main or to enough of a degree to the actual representative reality [if an analogy or metaphor of] concerning how perception works.
As one perception is derived from its parent perception, it is likely that the correlative function in that could be inverted or reversed, such that the infant may move back into the parent perceptive field. As the latter is [eventually at least ~ after the given set of migrations] without bodily perspective and is thus the universal variant, the disembodied seer/perception can see its own former tangential perception, and to some degree that of others, this probably relative to communications e.g. of a group.
edit2: We should add some manner of ‘recording’ ability to the primary function of the perception? Without such an ability informations be communicated between different agents [duplications] of the perception. In fact duplication here i feel implies a correlative even if non- informational.
