As described here, the site will be migrating to new software Monday night around 9PM eastern, which is 2AM Tuesday morning UTC.
During the migration, the site will be down for several hours. I’m not sure on the exact time, but I’m optimistically budgeting 6 hours so that our European users can keep up the tradition of browsing over their morning cigarette. If it’s not done in that window, odds are good something has gone wrong and it will take more like 12 hours.
A few things to know in preparation:
Be sure you know your current password, you’ll need to log in the first time and email resets might not be enabled at first.
Any character in a username other than a letter or number will be replaced with an underscore, so if your user name is “User Name”, log in with “User_Name”.
Make sure you know the email address associated with your account, in case you can’t log in with your username. Shouldn’t happen, but good to have a backup.
Sadly this emoji won’t be coming with us, so one last hurrah:
Good night, sweet prince.
Sorry all, this is being pushed 24 hours due to an unexpected snag (to be clear, it’s a snag that I should have expected, I just failed to expected it).
Same timeline, just pushed to Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.
Here is a live feed of me trying to be a proper website admin:
